Not the Stud You Picked Up Last Night
This studded paddle works great if you are looking for something unique in your paddle. Each side provides a different sensation - the back side is more gentle while the studded side can provide rough play. It's a multi-use toy that works great for a BDSM collection.

Pros
Studs provide an interesting sensation, versatile, unique.
Cons
Too flexible, may possibly hide bacteria.
The studded paddle is sixteen and a half inches long and is made out of two layers of leather. The leather is sewn together nicely, and none of the stitching is coming out. This studded paddle is also about four inches in width. The paddle includes suede strings tied around the end to allow the paddle to hang on the wall if you choose. The handle of the paddle is about an inch across and about five inches in length. In thickness, the paddle only has about 1/3 of an inch.
There are thirty different studs on the front of this paddle. A hole was cut into the leather to allow the stud to show through the leather, so the leather is just snuggly resting against the metal studs. Each metal stud only sticks out about an eighth of an inch from the leather itself. It's noticable, but it isn't anything largely different.
Using the studded side is definitely a painful sensation. My boyfriend describes it as something in intensity between a regular paddle and a cane. He says you can't feel each individual piece of metal, but they do work together to make something that can definitely be pretty painful. It also does leave a red flush to the skin you hit, but it doesn't appear to indent each individual metal stud. It's definitely a very stingy sensation and something that most people wouldn't be able to take more than five hits at full strength without wishing to stop.
Using the plain side is just like using a regular paddle. It does have a slight sting, and it will turn the skin a red color. If used lightly, it doesn't hurt much, but if used roughly, it can hurt almost as much as the studded side.
From the giver's point of view, I found it to be very, very flexible. Not in a good way either. It was flexible to the point of being slightly annoying. During use, it actually makes me feel like I'm going to bend the thing in half during mid-swing. However, because of that flexibility, it does deliver more pain than if it had been rigid. It also just tends to get me annoyed at the paddle. I feel like I'm going to bend it in half, but it hasn't happened yet (and I have friends who swear by this paddle) so I'm going to assume that it's just something that's just going to drive me insane instead of something that will actually harm the paddle.
The handle works well for feminine hands. It feels like it was made for male hands to use it, but it's long enough and wide enough to make it comfortable in almost anyone's hand. The weight distribution of the paddle makes it a little uncomfortable to use for long stretches, but for regular use, it works out just fine.
This studded paddle is extremely easy to clean. A washcloth with warm water will wipe down the entire paddle without any problem. There are specially-made leather cleaners that will help keep your leather looking new and healthy as well. When it comes to sharing this paddle, I'm extremely split. Because of the metal studs, it has holes up in the leather that would allow bacteria to get trapped. Honestly, I would keep this for use with those you are fluid-bonded with. I wouldn't chance it since there are little spots for the bacteria to hide. I also would not take this into the bath or shower with you. (Who does that with a paddle?) Leather wouldn't find it very fun.
Overall, it's a good paddle. I'd recommend it to beginners or advanced users since it has two sides. The two sides of the paddle also allow it to be very versatile right in the middle of a scene without switching toys. It seems durable enough to last for a long time, and I'm happy with my purchase even if I scowl at the paddle sometimes during use.

Experience
A great paddle that Jor and I will be using for discipline and play time. Definitely can have some pain if you put some strength behind it but could also be used for sensual play if used lightly.
Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
We still use the Studded Paddle, but not as often as we used to. For the most part, it's just a little bit too big to keep next to the bed compared to some of our other paddles. However, when we do a scene, we use the studded paddle as a punishment device. I've used it quite a few times on the boyfriend when he needed punishment since this does deliver quite a bit of sting to it.
