This toy is not one I would put in the hands of a beginner to impact play. This toy has the possibility of drawing blood and the guarantee of leaving marks from the first swing. Overall, this is pretty nice toy, but the handle could be better weighted. This toy is both stingy and thuddy, but I found that the stingy was more predominate.

Leaves marks easily All real leather Durable Well made
Cons
Handle isn't weighted properly Leaves marks easily
This is a flogger. Floggers come in many shapes and sizes, and they can also be made out of many different kinds of materials. This one is made from leather which is common, but it is also designed in a pretty unique way. It has leather strips that are made to look like barbed wire. While floggers are a pretty good toy for any level of experience with BDSM, the stiff barbs can do a serious amount of damage pretty easily.
This flogger deals both stingy and thuddy sensations all at once, but it errs towards stingy overall in my opinion.
This toy is best suited for flogging larger areas as it has a LOT of falls and spreads over a wider area. I would stick to back, butt, and maybe thighs for this toy.
The handle: This toy has a flaw in the design when it comes to the handle. The handle is not heavy enough to off set the weight of the falls, so it isn't completely perfect. It still isn't a huge deal and in no way makes this unusable.
The pommels are braided black leather that are shiny while the handle is a checker pattern of shiny red and black leather. The wrist strap is the red and black leather braided together that is 12" long. All the braiding seems very sturdy. I don't think it is going to come undone. The wrist strap is also very securely fastened.
The pommels are 5.5" in circumference while the actual handle is 3.5" in circumference. The total handle is 8.5" long including both pommels, but the handle portion is only 5.75" long.
The Falls: The falls are made of black shiny leather and red suede. The black leather is braided and wrapped very securely to mimic barbed wire. The black braids are .25" wide while the actual barbs are .5" wide. The red suede is .25" wide. The falls vary in length slightly as is common with floggers, but on average, they are 22" long. The variance is very small.
The suede falls are very soft and pliable, but the black braids are not. The suede creates the thuddy feeling while the braids make the sting. The suede falls have a tendency to tangle in the barbs, but it is pretty easy to comb it out with your fingers.
The red suede falls are cut straight while the black falls all end in a wrapped knot. The black falls also have a wrapped knot about every four inches. This knot is wrapped and had 4 pieces that stick off to simulate barbed wire. They aren't sharp when you hold them, but they feel sharp when you are being hit with them.
I was on the receiving end of this toy, so while I can ask my dominant for feedback, I can't actually speak from experience on wielding this. He found it easy to wield despite a poorly balanced handle. It's substantial, but not too heavy for him, but keep in mind that he is a 6'4" man that works physically for a living.
For me, I am having a hard time staying objective about how this performed. It hurts. I know you are thinking that this is a BDSM toy so of course it hurts, but it is hard to ease into this toy. I also am a brat rather than a masochist, so I am not in love with pain. When I am not still recovering from the tiny bruises the barbs left all over my body, I may not have such a conflict over this toy.
Overall, it is a very effective tool. In fact it is almost too effective in leaving marks. From the first swing, this left tiny marks on me. My dominant hadn't even ramped up anywhere near to the intensity he can use with other toys. Other reviewers have experience this toy drawing blood, and we both can see this toy doing that.
This is made from leather, so you want to keep it dry. To clean it, you will need to invest in leather cleaners. As for maintenance, you can hang if from a hanger or on the wall by the wrist strap. It is best to hang floggers, so they stay straight.
This simply came with a tag attached to it. There was no additional packaging. The tag listed the manufacturer and had a SKU on it. Nothing special on it at all. If you want to give this as a gift, you may want to order the gift wrap or package it yourself.
I have one small aesthetic complaint with this flogger, but it may only be an issue for me. I think that it looks weird to have suede falls but red shiny leather on the handle. I would have preferred if the two reds matched texture more.
I was nervous about this toy ever since I first saw it, but my dominant stumbled across it here, so we went a head and picked it up. We both read all the reviews of it, so we were well warned that it will leaves marks and can draw blood.
We have used it a few times now, and he is very careful with it to not swing too hard. Leaving marks on me is fine, but drawing blood isn't a part of agreed upon dynamic.
I am a brat and can take a beating. My dominant loves this toy because he gets the reaction he is looking for out of me. (Normally it is yelling obscenities at him because it hurts.) Hence why I am giving this 4 stars, but don't sound especially thrilled about this toy.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it20 days after original review
This has quickly become my Dom's favorite flogger. He loves how it feels and the reaction he gets when he uses it, so this one is still a keeper.
He hasn't broken skin with it, but he has been very careful in how he uses it. It still has that possibility.
