"Love Well, Whip Well"
When a potentially dangerous BDSM implement, such as the Ruff Doggie Styles Serpent's Tongue Whip, gets away from me I'm left feeling frightened by my immediate loss of power. And as I'm the one holding the whip, I should never feel frightened, but always in full control.
Published:
Pros
Beautiful red and black plating. Stingers rip into flesh.
Cons
Unwieldy, hard to control.
Experience
My husband is a strong bodied male, and I am a strong minded female, and together we expected sparks to fly. While this whip hurt till he was near bleeding, it was not as easy or as pleasant to use as I had expected.
The Ruff Doggie Styles Serpent's Tongue is a lightweight unassuming whip (at first glance), that turns out to be a completely unwieldy whip, with a mind of its own and a serious bite.

Great review, as always!
Singletail whips are not actually designed for human to human use, at least not humane human to human use! They're designed to frighten large animals so as to drive them in one direction or another.
In BDSM, the crackers are generally used to strike the skin only in extreme play, as they will easily carve it up. IMHO, only experienced BDSM players should work with singletails, cause they can be quite dangerous, to all parties. Equally importantly, the singletail itself has to be well made, or you will get exactly the problem you have encountered here, that it will not go where you want it to.
Unfortunately, because well made singletails tend to be expensive, and because the idea of singletails is so strongly associated with BDSM (legacy of years of inaccurate representation), a market for cheap, badly made singletails has been created.
There are a couple of problems with that - one, that the items themselves are potentially dangerous, two, that they are marketed at BDSM newbies and the curious (exactly the people who shouldn't buy them!) and three, that the ensuing bad experience can turn people away from the huge and wonderful range of sensation play that is SM.
Just my two cents worth of raving!
My roommie has a very loose singletail that she's managed to learn great control with through lots and lots of practice. She can pick the heads of off dandelions in our backyard with scary accuracy.
