Impressions Crop from Sportsheets is a non-intimidating introduction into some light BDSM. This inexpensive crop should suit the needs of both beginners and those that know they prefer lighter play.

This crop can be used as a light 'punishing' tool by slapping it against your partner, wherever you see fit. It works great for sensory play, since the receiver never knows when the next slap is coming, which makes their senses hightened! Tease, slap, spank; it's all great with this crop! On top of that, this crop makes a great accessory to a variety of outfits, so it's great for costume and role playing as well.

This crop works best with a partner(s) since using it by yourself isn't very thrilling. It's a great addition to foreplay, but using it during sex would be a little bit more of a challenge due to the long handle. It can be done, but it tends to be a little bit awkward.

Because of it's size, it's not really very travel friendly. It's lightweight and thin, but is quite long and wouldn't fit in a purse, but might in a backpack or briefcase, you'd have to check the measurements.

Impressions crop is made from faux-leather which is water and tear resistant, has a plastic handle, and also has the same faux-leather for the handle grip and wrist strap. The crop top (the part that connects to the body you're slapping) is made with a black piece that has a heart cut out of the front, loops around a piece of red fabric, and is attached using three silver rivets. The back of the crop top is solid and is black, where the front makes it appear as though there's a red heart on it. There's stitching along the bottom on the heart that goes down around the rivets, giving it a solid fit around the plastic. The top can easily be bent and moved, it's not going to deliver a solid blow to your partner. The design of the top makes a very lovely and loud slap when it connect with the body, delivering far more bark than bite.




There was no noticeable smell when I received my crop. The faux-leather feels nice and smooth to the touch with only a very slight texture to it, and the red fabric has a silky smooth texture to it as well. It's not something that can be felt when using the crop, it's only obvious when you're actually touching it. The black plastic handle is also totally smooth and does have a slight shine to it, as do the rivets, whereas the faux-leather has a matte look to it.

The plastic handle doesn't feel the most durable, especially if you plan on trying to use this for anything more than light play. It's solid enough for gentle lashing, but won't hold up over time if you use it more aggressively. It does have the ability to bend slightly, but I wouldn't push it as it probably would snap in half. At the base of the crop, the faux-leather handle grip makes it much easier to hold, especially with the wrist strap attached. The handle grip has stitching at the very bottom and up either side of the plastic handle and also has a silver rivet to keep it in place.


Toward the top of the handle grip, is a small black tag that has the company name on it 'Sportsheets', in silver stitching. That's the only mark or name on this crop.


The wrist strap is large and should fit just about anyone. The smaller your hand is, the harder it is to keep in place though. It's not adjustable, so you have to deal with it as it is, or try to make your own modifications if needed. I could see someone stitching a little further from the bottom of the handle to make the wrist strap smaller in size.



The overall length of the toy is quite nice. It's long enough that I don't even have to be touching the bed to deliver my man with a slap as he's laying there, blindfolded, and cuffed. It does get tricky if you're closer to your partner when using though, but with a little creativity, it shouldn't be an issue.

This crop isn't heavy duty. It's pretty lightweight and should last quite a while if it's properly taken care of. Using this aggressively will only result in a broken crop, I don't even think it could cause a lot of harm to your partner.

Since this is called 'Impressions' I had expected that the heart would leave a slight impression on the skin when slapped with it. What I did notice, was that there was a heart type of shape, but it obviously had come from the rivets and not the actual heart cut out. That was a little bit disappointing, but not a huge deal. It does easily leave red marks, but not the pain to go along with them.

My husband and I have had a lot of fun with this crop! He doesn't enjoy pain, but he was more than willing and welcomed the light slaps that this crop delivers. The slap that comes from this crop is quite loud, and can probably be heard through a closed door, so use caution if you have little people or guests in your house.

I had expected that this was going to be a very cheaply made toy, especially thanks to the inexpensive price on it, but was pleasantly surprised. It's not something that will last forever, but it isn't nearly as cheap as I had expected it to me.

For us, who like to participate in lighter play, it's perfect. It gave us the tool that we were looking for to add another sensation to our bedroom play. It's great for teasing, great for sensory play, and can leave a tiny sting, but nothing someone with even a low pain tolerance couldn't handle.

According to the Faux-leather material page here on Eden, you can wash it "with warm water using mild, detergent-free soap and a microfiber soft cloth or an ordinary long-handled, soft bristle brush." It's not necessary to wash it unless it's come in contact with lubrication or bodily fluids. If you've played and nothing has gotten on it, don't worry about cleaning it.

Because of the crop's length, I would suggest storing it in a dresser drawer, or if you don't have a lot of traffic in your room (or don't care if you do), you could easily hang this up on the wall by the handle.

Impressions Crop came attached to a small piece of cardboard that reminds me of the kitchen tools you'd find hanging up on the walls of Bed Bath & Beyond. It's very minimal, but it's very obvious what the toy is for since it's right out in the open and the company name and product name are prominently displayed on it. There's no information about how to use this toy, but it's not really necessary. The crop is attached using a thin plastic tag holder, like what you'd find on clothing that usually sport a price tag. There's no reason to keep the hanger (unless you want to) and it can be disposed of as you wish.
