They are easily opened and closed with velcro, which is very nice because they are adjustable and could fit someone with small wrist to someone with bigger wrist (or even ankles....). The fabric that makes up the actual cuffs is velboa fabric and it makes these cuffs very comfortable. The cuffs are linked together by an O ring and two clips, which is also why these would be more for beginners. A more advanced user would be able to release themselves out of them while engaged in rough play. They are small/thin enough that they fold up nicely to be stored away discreetly for travel or to be stored away.

For the beginner user that I am, these worked very well for me. They held up very nicely and were comfortable for the time of use. There was awkwardly extra fabric that just hung around my wrist, due to my having small wrist, they were more comfortable on my ankles. Since I found I could unhook my self, if wanted, my husband prefers to use them on my ankles.
