The metal gives a cool shock to heated skin if not warmed up before use, but that just makes it easier to apply the clamps to stiff nipples. While the metal is cold and smooth, the rubber tips on the clamps themselves give a good deal of grip. It has no discernible smell.

The design of this product is nearly perfect. I'm able to get the clamp tight enough on my nipples so I can hold the chain in my mouth and tug for added sensation while my hands are otherwise occupied. The clamps are super easy to adjust and put on/take off and they reach the desired area quite efficiently. They are very comfortable. I have large breasts and they fit me just fine. They would fit smaller breasted people just as well.

Be careful of how long you leave the clamps on. You can find yourself in more pain/trouble than necessary if left on for too long or if the clamps are too tight. Exercise caution and start lightly with these. It's better to gradually increase the pressure slowly and get used to them instead of just clamping these suckers on tight right off the bat. Though some may say it hurts to take clamps off, I find that taking them off often gives me a head rush! Just exercise common sense and you'll be fine!
