Its Bark Is Worse Than Its Bite
Overall I have to say I was a little impressed with this item. I wasn't expecting much but it turned out to be a pretty decent crop. While the packaging is terrible, the item itself is pretty decent. It is not a full sized crop and not intended for serious pain but is fun to use and great value!

-Packaging/Impressions-
When I first found out I was chosen to review the Sex & Mischief Riding Crop by Sportsheets I was excited, I had previously gotten a strap-on dildo and harness set by them and thought it was pretty decent. Over the course of our relationship my partner and I have had various paddles, floggers and crops so I was interested to see what this would be like compared to them. I knew it was a mini crop so I was expecting more of a novelty than an actual crop.
When it arrived I was a little disheartened at the packaging. While it is more of a novelty than an actual crop the packaging is very cheap and gimmicky looking. It is a cardboard sheet with the crop held in place by two plastic loops that you get to hold tags on clothing.
There is a pattern on the front and then on the back it lists a few ideas for games you can play with your partner. I was initially impressed that they had this as it can be fun trying new things however when I read them I realised that they were for the most part describing games that can be played with a different toy called the “Whip & Tickle”, so that was a bit of a shame. One thing it mentioned that could be fun was using the crop to draw a shape or image on your partner’s body and they have to guess what it is, if they can't then you can strike them.
Overall I was underwhelmed by the packaging. I didn’t have high expectations but this didn’t even meet them. The real shame is the actual item is a lot better than the packaging makes it look. It has a look of a “hen party style” novelty or bargain shop gimmick.
-Specifications-
As I have mentioned the packaging makes this look cheaper than it is. As it was listed as being made of plastic I didn’t know what to expect so I was pleased to see it had a leatherette top. Once removed from the cardboard sheet I was actually surprised at the quality of the item. It is actually made from ABS plastic, Poly Vinyl Chloride and Polyester. It is separated into three different parts. A handle which has a somewhat rubber/plastic mix feel to it. The main part of the length which is just plastic. And finally the tip which is used for striking with is a leatherette piece that is doubled over and has a single label that reads S&M on it. The dimensions are as follows.
Overall length = 12 ¼ inches
Handle length = 3 ½ inches
Stem length = 3 ½ Inches
Tip/Head length = 5 inches
Tip/head width = 2 inches
-Use-
While I had my misgivings about how well this crop would work I have to say it does exceed my expectations. Obviously this is not a full sized, equestrian riding crop. So I have to start by saying that this is not something that “pain sluts” will be into, it will not leave welts, it will not draw blood, and it will not bruise you.
Now that I have said that I want to point out that there are a number of things this crop is good for. Its small size makes it easier to handle and use. This is great for either beginners or those who want finer control for the likes of clit spanking or cock and ball torture. It is a great travel item, very handy to throw in a weekend bag. It is just a fun item; it makes a nice slapping sound when you strike with it.
But one advantage I hadn’t thought about until I saw the item is this. Both my partner and I have been to numerous fetish parties and events, some in private houses others in clubs. What they all have in common is they can be a bit crowded. This is ideal to take with you on a fetish night as it isn't heavy and you don’t need a lot of room to swing. Added to this, items like floggers and crops often go missing at these events (being misplaced in the dark, someone accidentally takes something home etc) and if this goes missing, its relative bargain price means you won’t be too upset.

As for the sensation, well it is a lightweight item. It can hurt if you use it on a sensitive area but it is obviously not as painful as a full size model. As I mentioned this is great for genital play as it can focus on a small area. It is ideal for people looking to try spanking/flogging but don’t want to break the bank or try anything too extreme. The sound it makes on impact is really satisfying but its bark is definitely worse than its bite. It is also great for fetish parties/events or even travel because it is a handy size.
-Summary-
Overall I was more impressed with the crop than I expected. I was initially disheartened to see the useless packaging that it comes with but the item itself is actually pretty decent as far as novelty style items go. It can be used to great effect if you know how. Obviously it won’t do any lasting or serious damage in terms of welts or bruises so if you crave pain in a very serious way I don’t have to tell you that this won’t do the trick for you. If however you want a good travel size crop, want to try spanking but don’t know your pain threshold. Or if you just like fun, novelty items then this might be exactly what you want.
