This is a great length of rope for beginners and experienced users alike. It's much cheaper than rope from other stores, and just as soft and durable if not more so. What a great buy!

Pros
Great length, super soft, durable and easy to use.
Cons
Rope isn't sealed to prevent fraying, limited colour choices.
If this is your first time purchasing rope, then this is a great place to start! This Japanese rope is perfect for tying up your play partner (or being tied up!) in a miriad of fashions. Firstly, the rope is long enough to be used as a decorative body harness; if you've never made one, check out Twisted Monk for some great instructional videos. This rope is also great for wrist cuffs, ankle cuffs, arm corsets, pretty much anything your mind could design of use on the body. Keep in mind that you may want to cut it into smaller sections for things like wrist cuffs, or you'll spend a lot of time pulling rope through the loops you've made. I believe that this rope would work just as well for advanced users, though I would supplement with thicker rope if trying out any suspensions.
I was very impressed by the quality of the rope compared to some more expensive rope I had found at Mr S. I had been very close to buying some hardware store rope before my partner found Doc Johnson's bondage rope, and I'm thrilled that my first rope experience was with something so soft. Although the ends of the rope are not finished off, it would be easy to grab some electrical tape and wrap the ends to prevent fraying. Keep in mind that since this rope is 100% cotton, it's not possible to melt the ends together as you would with a synthetic material. The length of this rope is also fantastic, although I would suggest buying two packs; one for the length, and one to cut into smaller, more manageable pieces. The box claims that this rope will not cause any rope burns unless you're deliberately trying, and I was surprised to find the rope extremely soft, even when it was whipping past my skin as my partner absentmindedly played with it the first time. I was disappointed that this rope is only offered in black, red, and purple; I ended up ordering it in black. It would be even better if this rope came in some brighter neon colours for those of us that want a little more zing in our kink :)
This rope saved me from the horror of scratch hardware-store rope. I was so glad to run the soft cotton through my hands and for my partner to start looping it around my body in any fashion he wanted. Not only does the rope feel good against my skin, but it knots well and holds up to a lot of tugging. Just be sure not to tie any knots too tight, or they might be really hard to remove.
Since this rope is 100% cotton, you can just toss it in a delicates or bra bag and put it in the washer along with all of your other clothes. You can choose to store your rope wherever's easiest, although if you plan to run your rope over or through a genital area, it's better to store your rope in a small bag to keep it from gathering dirt and dust from its surroundings.
Doc Johnson's rope came nicely wound in a basic cut-and-toss plastic package, along with a cute two page booklet showing some basic knots. I was slightly surprised; the packaging was subtle enough to look like my rope could have been bought at a novelty store like Spencer's Gifts or somewhere similar. I wouldn't plan to keep your rope stored in the package unless you don't have anywhere else, since it's just an oversized plastic box.
I'm thrilled that I bought this rope instead of some painful material from the hardware store. This really is perfect for anyone wanting to try out (or continue) rope bondage without breaking the bank. I plan to buy a few more and cut them into smaller pieces so that I'll have a piece for every possibility!
I highly suggest that along with this rope, you find yourself some awesome instruction to go along with it. If you are aware of a kink-friendly group in your area, find out if they have any rope classes or workshops that you can attend. Otherwise, pick up a book such as the one here on Eden by the Knotty Boys. If you have a partner, make it a date night! No matter whether you're tied or doing the tying, learning more about rope technique will improve both your skills in the bedroom, and your control over your own safety.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it2 months after original review
I'm still deeply in love with this rope. It's one of our go-to items for bondage, and I have yet to buy a different brand because everything else feels so coarse in comparison. We just bought some in red as well, so I can't wait to use these together! We plan to cut one of them into smaller pieces for wrist and ankle work, and leave one long for body harnesses and other needs.
