Giddy-up
Spartacus makes a good quality, nicely priced basic BDSM basic. The wide tipped crop is delightfully slappy and easy for even the beginner to use while still providing enjoyment for the experienced.

Pros
Affordable, well constructed, nice wide keeper, flexible shaft.
Cons
May be too short for some.
Back when I was a single submissive, I decided it was high time I started buying my own toys. I was tired of having to depend upon others to have my favorites, tired of sharing, tired of not providing anything toward my own kinky pleasures.
So I started buying stuff to stock my own small toy bag; a gag, a crop, some cuffs and a paddle, clamps, a cane and a flogger I liked. The basics, you know?
I bought a lot of it from Spartacus because their stuff was affordable and good quality.
This crop is no exception. Another affordable, well constructed, quality piece from a dependable company.
The crop itself is 21 inches long with a braided body, a silver tipped handle and a wide rubber tip. I liked the wider tip because it makes it easier for even the unskilled to hit where they are aiming.
I do NOT like to be hit with the whippy, often cane-like shaft of a crop. I want to be hit with the leather or rubber keeper that you're *supposed* to be hit with. This one is wide enough that it's fairly easy to do; around 2 - 2.5 inches wide as opposed to the tiny half inch keeper on some crops. The wide surface area of the keeper makes a nice slapping sound when it contacts flesh and feels both slappy and stingy.
I particularly enjoyed this crop for the slapping of tender regions; breasts, vulva, nipples. Because it's rubber, however, I would suggest not sharing if you're going to get bodily fluids on it. Rubber is porous and can be wiped down with soap and water but can't be sterilized.
The crop is flexible yet firm and very well constructed. Mine lasted right up until Taylor decided to take it apart and use the handle for something else. But that is another story...

Follow-up commentary
7 months after original review
I've wanted to write a follow up on this for a good, long time. It haunts me, sitting there, undone, in my list.
But, alas, Taylor modified the toy and... um... I really can't follow up on the original.
It was good while it lasted, though

Thank you for viewing Riding crop review page!
Good review!
But...Ok, spit it out sister - I am distracted by wondering what Taylor did with the handle! And I noticed something only your dear editrix would pay mind to, you wrote "you know" instead of "yanno"...hmm, is this really Carrie Ann?
Thankfully, the whole mess broke. *nod*
Cuz... yanno... fishing rods suck.
I never even thought about NOT doing it in my reviews, I've been doing it so long.
Oy.
Where has my education gone!
