‘Cute’ isn’t a word I would use to describe the typical whip--but then, the Fresh Tassel Whip|Fresh tassel whip isn’t your typical whip. When I removed it from its stylish and colorful package, the first thing that caught my eye was the vibrant color and the irresistibly cute and fun appearance. The hot pink and blue strands come off as stylishly kowaii rather than Lisa Frank cute. There’s no mistaking this for a child’s toy.

The construction is sturdy, durable and lightweight. The handle, which is about 5 inches, has a core of somewhat flexible, clear plastic that seems resilient to any sort of abuse one might put it through. There is a D-ring at the end of the handle, anchored by the strands, which wrap through the flat end of the D-ring and back into the handle to come out at the other end. A crafty piece of engineering, if I do say so myself. This design element serves to anchor the strands very sturdily to the handle as well as adding an accent of blue to the end of the predominantly pink handle. If I had a place to hang it up, I would display it proudly.

Testing time is when this whip really proved itself. I tested out the 20-inch model, meaning 5 inches of handle and 15 inches of strands. While the strands themselves were a little stiff at first, a little bit of play left the strands flexible. The beguiling cuteness of this toy hides a pretty hefty wallop. There is a wide range of intensity that you can derive from this whip but overall the impact leaves a sting rather than a thud. The sting dissipates quickly, leaving the receiver ready for more.

Dragging the strands slowly across the back and genitals will also be sure to blow your bottom’s mind with anticipation. From a top’s perspective, I found this whip very satisfying. Because it is constructed from lightweight materials, I could use it for a sustained length of time without tiring out. All in all, this is a great toy for an all night session.

One problem I did have was with poor control. Using this whip requires a little practice beforehand. While I practiced on my pillow, there were still a couple blows that missed their mark during my testing session. I also had trouble developing a consistent level of intensity. I am confident though that more practice will dispel these issues.

Overall, the Fresh Tassel Whip is my favorite flogger to date. As a sub, I love the sexy sting. As a dom, I love the lightweight design and the range of intensity. I would recommend this to beginners in the 10-inch model, intermediates in the 20-inch model, and experts in the 30-inch model. It is definitely a fun and refreshing break from run of the mill black leather.
