Exclusively for beginners

I got these really because they were available for free with any order, and I was placing and order so I got them figuring I could keep give them to a friend in need, or keep them as a novelty. Really, that's just what I consider these to be: a novelty.

Pros
Okay for BDSM beginners, fuzzy covers can be removed, fabric makes metal less harsh on wrists
Cons
Easily escapable, the fuzz sheds, keys aren't needed, not much more than a gag gift.

Use

These might be a fun gift, or if you are a beginner interested in BDSM you might enjoy these. If you are more advanced in your BDSM, you probably wouldn't care for these very much at all as anything other than an amusing novelty. In terms of restraint, this is about as light as it gets. If you are curious about BDSM and are looking for something that the wearer can easily take off as they wish, then these are perfect for you.

I would highly advise against using these for any sort of suspension, they are not meant for suspension and do not have any locking mechanism and can come off far to easily. They aren't built to stand up to heavy weight or tugging. However, these can be used to play with your senses. If you were to put these on your partner and blindfold them, you could be play with their sense of touch and sound while being in total control. That is, unless they were not comfortable with it and wanted to undo the cuffs, which they could, which is why is stress that this is really made for beginners who are totally new to BDSM.

They are certainly not discreet. If you have these sitting out and someone sees them, there is no mistaking them as anything other than fuzzy handcuffs. All too often the punchline of a sex/kink joke is And it's "fuzzy handcuffs", so these could make a fun gag gift. Personally, I can't really take them seriously as an actual BDSM item. Technically, I suppose they are, though are about as light of a restraint (especially cuffs) as you'll get.

I know that cuffs are typically considered to be for couples, though these could be worn solo if you desired. They are easy to put on and take off on one's own, so if that is something you are interested in, these might be fun for you.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

For me, metal cuffs are not something I enjoy. They make make rattling noises, they are not comfortable and I bruise easily so that is really not ideal. If you enjoy the feeling of metal cuffs and the stiffness of them against your wrists, you will like the fact that the fabric on these is removable. However, I like the fabric coverings on these cuffs because it really makes them more comfortable. It cuts down on the chafing and painful stiffness of dealing with metal cuffs, it actually makes them pretty comfortable.

The cuffs can be easily removed if your partner gets uncomfortable and wants to take them off, or if there is an emergency of some kind, they can flip the switch with either hand on either cuff and take them off on their own, as I've demonstrated in my video.

The safety release may sound convenient to you, and if it does, then you will probably like these. However, I like my cuffs to actually lock. If they're going to be metal cuffs, I prefer them to need a key.

The design of these is fairly cheap. I doubt they will last a lifetime, and I don't expect them to hold up very well. These cuffs don't really have any smell. As it says printed on the cuffs, they are made in China. I think they will fit most wrists, as my wrists are very small (about 6") and these can fit tightly on my wrists and could even fit on wrists smaller than mine. Still, there is plenty of room for adjustment so they could fit over wrists much bigger than mine. However, if your wrists are much larger than average, you might not like these. I would recommend these in that case, as they have a wide range of adjustability and are my all time favorite cuffs.

According to the product page, these are metal and faux fur. It is not specific what metal or what fabric the faux fur is made from. I am not sure if you have any metal allergies how this might effect them, as the metal is not specific. This material is not very high quality, it's certainly not silk though I'm not 100% positive that it is vegan. Perhaps it is some sort of nylon?

Performance

I need my cuffs to be comfortable, but it is important for me that the wearer cannot escape from them as they please. So for me, these do not work. I have no use for furry cuffs with a safety release. The keys really are completely useless, they aren't worth the bother when you could so easily flip a switch. Though again, they are much more comfortable than plain old metal cuffs. Still, I prefer my Sportcuffs. They make minimal noise, have a wide range of adjustability, don't rattle so much, and are just all around superior. Since I am well beyond the novelty fuzzy handcuffs stage of BDSM, these don't really do it for me.

I have a number of friends that are oblivious to the world of sex toys and BDSM. Perhaps one of them would find these more useful that I do. If I don't keep these for the joke factor, I'll likely be giving them to a friend.

Care and Maintenance

The fact that the fuzzy fabric covers can be removed from the cuffs seems convenient for cleaning. If you were to get anything on them, you could just wipe down the metal and take of the fabric covers and wash them. I'm not sure how this sort of fabric would hold up in a washing machine, especially being that after taking them out of the fabric and examining them for awhile, I noticed that there was little bits of pink fuzz stuck to my sheets. To clean the fabric, it would probably be best to take the covers off of the cuffs and wash them by hand.

Packaging

The packaging is FAR from discreet. I don't see why you would want to keep this box to store them. The box isn't really informative, though instructions aren't really needed. It isn't really minimal, since I don't even think these really need to come in a box, that seems excessive. However, the box is thankfully recyclable.

Personal comments

These really are your run-of-the-mill, cheap, novelty beginner's cuffs. I remember my very first pair of handcuffs that I got many years ago - they were exactly the same as these, down to the keys, but without the fabric. I still have those old keys lying around, though the cuffs are long gone, and they are exactly the same (as they are with all cheap beginner's cuffs). I got those at a Spencer's in a mall. My partner and I figured they would be fun, but were were disappointed to find that they were so easily escapable.

I added a few similar products that are available here on EF, and as you can see they all have the same keys as well. The keys aren't necessary, they all look the same, and they've been making them for years to go with all of these novelty cuffs. You can still find these sort of cuffs at Spencer's, and that's what I've always associated these sort of "sex toys" (novelties) with.
Follow-up commentary
I don't consider these to be much more than a novelty. I have them in with the rest of my toys and things, but I don't think I will ever seriously want to use them, much less in place of a better quality restraint. If a friend tells me they are interested in TOTAL beginner BDSM, them I will offer these up to them. Otherwise, I just have them sitting around. This free gift is just taking up space, for me.

I got these coming too. I usually use metal but it don't hurt to have something over them because it does tend to hurt a little bit. Great review thanks for sharing!
