The Purple Fur Line Wrist Restraints from Spartacus Are traditional handcuffs suitable for light to heavy BDSM play. They are comfortable for long term wear and will fit people with a wide range of wrist sizes. Purple is a pretty neutral color, and these cuffs are not overly feminine, so they don't seem to be marketed toward any specific gender. Men with extra large wrists may wish to look elsewhere, however.

These cuffs were not designed for suspension play and should not be used for it. They can be used with tethers and ties, spreader bars, and really anything that you can attach to a D-ring, but be aware that the cuffs themselves do not come with anything you can use to attach them to each other (unlike, say, police handcuffs). While you could use these cuffs for solo play, they do not have an emergency-release function, so you may wish to wear them a little looser or link them in front of your body.

The lack of an emergency release makes these less than perfect for a first pair of cuffs, but I still think they are appropriate for beginners who know what they're getting into. They're non-threatening and extremely comfortable, and will stand up to heavy play without becoming damaged or cutting into the wearer's skin.

People with slender ankles could also use the Purple Fur-Lined Cuffs as ankle restraints, but I found that my ankles were too large for this. Alternatively, you could just purchase the matching ankle restraints that are also available here on EF. As these wrist cuffs are quite comfortable and attractive, they could be worn as a fashion accessory.

These restraints have a pretty standard design. The outer side is composed of black leather, with a silver-colored metallic buckle, D-ring, and smooth studs. The inner side is lined with soft purple artificial fur.





The construction on these cuffs is excellent. My partner and I enjoy heavy play, and these restraints have stood up beautifully with no damage or indication of strain at all. The fur shed a bit when I first tried them on, but after one use they stopped and haven't shed any more since. The cuffs have that nice leathery scent to them, and both the fur and leather feel soft and high-quality.



While these cuffs could be a bit bigger, I feel that they will fit the average user without a problem. If you order them and find that your wrists are too large, it wouldn't be too difficult to punch a new hole into the leather (though it might not be as sturdy as the original holes), although I have not tried this myself and cannot confirm it.

I have not had any problems with the cuffs discoloring my skin, but when I opened their packaging there were black smudges along the cardboard insert where it had been touching the leather. It's difficult to see in the picture, but it was pretty dark. However, the black color of the cuffs had not faded at all, and when I rubbed them heavily with both my fingers and a pillowcase, they did not leak any color. I don't know what caused them to rub off onto the cuffs, but you might want to be careful when storing them.

My Purple Fur-Lined Wrist Restraints have performed very well. My partner and I have attached them to silk scarves, leather tethers, and once attached both cuffs to each other with a zip-tie and each time they held sturdily to whatever they were meant to without stretching or tearing. They were extremely comfortable as well, and fit both of us easily (my wrists fit the third largest setting, and my partner's fit the fifth largest).

In addition to using these cuffs for restraint, my partner also suggested that they could be used for daily wear as a fashion accessory. Couples in committed D/s relationships often like to wear subtle signs of their attachment in public, and these would be a gorgeous addition to an edgy outfit.

Leather can be finicky to care for. Make sure you never fully submerge these restraints in water, spot-cleaning only when necessary. If you do have to clean the outer side, fully dry the leather before returning the cuffs to storage. The same rules apply for the fur, but be extra sure to dry it as the fur can absorb more liquid than the leather, and could become musty if stored while still damp.

I really try to keep these cuffs as pristine as possible so that I don't have to deal with cleaning. For storage, I keep them in a soft wine bag, which is a little longer than necessary but is wider than a toy bag. You can store these cuffs either fastened or flat, depending on your preference.

The packaging for these restraints is not at all discreet. The front features a woman in a cupless bra (I censored this in my photograph) wearing one cuff and sensuously holding the other against her body, as well as the Spartacus logo and a purple argyle pattern.



The back features a blurb about the product itself, and a smaller second blurb about Spartacus.





I would not use this packaging for storage, as it is quite a bit larger than the cuffs themselves, isn't discreet, and (in my opinion) isn't as luxurious as the cuffs themselves. However, if you wanted to use it for this purpose, it is easy to open and close and would be easy to clean (except for the insert).
