Long story short: From the stand point of a semi-beginner, these clamps at the very least pack a moderate bite. They can be a great toy if you can overlook some aesthetic flaws.

Pros
Good bite; Great for mid-level users; Heavy chain
Cons
Aesthetics issues- i.e. chipped paint; Flaws in construction.
The Fresh Jaws Nipple Clamps come in either a pretty blue or pink color and they are oh-so-deceptively mild-looking. The experienced user may find that these clamps don’t quite pack enough of a bite. However, with my limited experience using the tweeze styled clamps, these are more than enough to add an extra spice to any session.
I've only used them for their intended purpose so far, but they can certainly be used for hardcore play. They can be used on the labia or other parts of the body. But use with caution in these areas; when they are placed carelessly, these clamps can pinch hard and not in the fun way.
They're excellent in solo sessions, between couples, or even for BDSM sessions. Nipple tug-o-war anyone?
The biggest issue that I have with these clamps isn't the effectiveness, but the construction of the clamps.
The clamps are painted blue, which is actually very pretty. When mine arrived, there were some scratches and light chipping already on the moving parts. After playing with it a little more, a bit of paint actually flecked off in my hand. This may be expected when metal is painted but it is a little disappointing nonetheless.
The clamps measure 3.5". They seem to be constructed from folded metal sheets that are hollow on the inside. This makes them extremely light weight. If you're looking for something that's heavier, you're still in luck. The chain itself is pretty weighty, which definitely gives you that tugging effect when you're wearing them.
The tips are padded with black rubber to prevent the metal from catching your skin. The rubber tips are slightly bumpy like one of those non-slip-pads. Unfortunately, even with the pads, my skin was caught when I snapped them on carelessly. Also, my clamps seem to be defective since there is a pretty pronounced gap between the metal casing and the rubber tips and the tips don't quite line up. In addition when using these clamps, the metal bit can pinch the skin depending on the tips position on your nipple. I get that it's a "pinching" toy, but I prefer my pinches to be intentional.
Again this may be defect with my clamps only, but the small pin that holds the coil in place in between each half of the clamp popped out of its hole. Fortunately, I did manage to snap it back together and it seems to be holding up fine after repeated use.
These are my first clover-styled clamps, and I'm enamored. They're possibly one of the easier clamps to put on and take off. Think of them as extremely fancy clothing pins. They are one-handed clip on/ clip off with no adjustment needed. They open to a little over 0.5", so folks with larger nipples may have tougher time putting them on.
Once you get them on though, they grip on tight. They are seriously on and don’t slip on when tugging on the chain. However because I'm too much of a beginner (wuss) to pull hard on them while they're attached to my fun bits, I clamped it to the skin between my thumb and index finger instead for the tug test. It got ouching-ly tighter, but it stayed on. Now if only I can gather the courage to try that properly.
Lastly, I really like the length of the chain. At 12", It's long enough to get the weighted effect from the dangling chain, but short enough to easily apply tension if you dare.
To clean these clamps you can use soap and water. However when washing this type of surface, there's a chance that it can become discolored. Fortunately, with mine it seems fine so far but I will update review if it does.
There's not much in terms of instructions in the package. However, they are pretty self-explanatory The package itself is a transparent clamshell with a colorful cardboard background. There's nothing explicit in the packaging, but since it is transparent and the clamps are undeniably eye-catching, I suggest that you open the brown box in private.
"Let's try this out." Snapped it on. "AH!"
A note to beginners: I think you can manage these, and I think most of you have the common sense to not do what I did but...just don't snap them on because it can be very painful. Watch where you're placing them and gradually release pressure on the clamps.
After taking them off I tried again, this time with greater care. The bite and pressure, more bite than pressure, worked really well for me. I left them on for a bit, experimented with tugging on the chain. Then I took them off and wow. I was happily tingly for the rest of the afternoon, so much so that I ended up testing them out few more times. I’m definitely glad that I gave these a second try after my first attempt.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it3 months after original review
Two months later and these are still right by my bedside, so they're definitely in frequent use! I've been able to wear them for longer, but the bite is still there and I'm not looking to "upgrade" anytime soon. The paint has flaked a little, but for the most part, they look exactly as they did two months ago. There hasn't been any rusting or color changes at the joints, which I was afraid would happen.
It's a purchase that I definitely don't regret making!

@sisterluck: Thank you. =] And yeah, it kind of sucks about the paint, but at least it's working well.
