The Sweet Punishment Kit is a beginner oriented BDSM kit designed for those just beginning to dabble in the world of sensory deprivation, impact play, and bondage. Included in the kit is a pair of metal handcuffs with a faux-fur liner, satin blindfold, and small faux-leather paddle. I want to stress that this kit is not designed for intermediate or advanced users. Anyone with experience in the realm of BDSM will be disappointed by the lack of quality offered by these items. That said, it’s a perfect kit for beginners who are looking to explore their kinky side without spending a lot of money on high quality items.



Handcuffs
The handcuffs included in this set can be used for light bondage play. With one pair of handcuffs, you can cuff your partners hands behind their back, cuff one wrist to a bedpost, or cuff one wrist to one ankle if their ankle is small enough. With multiple pairs of handcuffs, the possibilities are endless. My partner and I had additional pairs of handcuffs so we were able to use our handcuffs to cuff each others wrists to our headboard.

Paddle
This paddle looks intimidating but it is all bark and no bite. Use this paddle to experiment with some light impact play. Spank your partner across their ass, breasts, thighs, stomach, or wherever else they crave a nice, thuddy smack. If I’m not mistaken, this paddle is the Blush XOXO Paddle that has since been discontinued.

Blindfold
The satin blindfold is used to block your eyes during your play. Depriving one sense heightens your other senses, making sensations more intense. Each caress, smack, tickle, and lick will be a pleasant surprise to you as you have no idea what your partner has planned next. You’ll never see it coming ;)

Handcuffs
The handcuffs are two metal wrist cuffs attached by a single 3-inch, 3 link chain. The handcuffs come with a pair of keys that can be used to unlock the cuffs. However, each cuff does have an emergency release button. This button can be reached while your hands are in the cuffs so you or your partner can easily release yourselves. This feature makes them less risky for bondage play but it also makes the cuffs less useful for real bondage play. The metal chain between the wrist cuffs is fairly flimsy and I imagine it could snap with too much force. The faux-fur on the wrist cuffs is a thin liner that is not secured to the metal cuffs at all. It slides around during use. This is one of my biggest pet peeves when using handcuffs. The liner is also really poorly done. It sheds everywhere and is beginning to unravel. If I use these one more time, I could see the liner ripping in half completely.





Paddle
The paddle is a black, faux-leather paddle. It’s only 12.5” long. The handle is 1.15” wide at most points and 7.5” long. The surface that strikes the skin is 5” long and 2.15” wide. Overall, the paddle is .15” thick so it’s thin and compact. On one side of the paddle, there is red vinyl underneath the faux-leather. The faux-leather is cut out to form the letters “XOXO” that shows the red vinyl underneath. Inside the paddle is a metal or hard plastic rod that runs up the center of the paddle. This rod helps the paddle keep its shape and deliver more pain with each smack. On the end of paddle is an elastic loop that can be wrapped around smaller wrists during use. My wrists are 5.75” inches and the loop fits around my wrists but there is not much more room. The stitches in the faux-leather seem to be holding up well to regular use and the paddle is showing no signs of separating.



Blindfold
The blindfold is made of red satin trimmed in a red yarn-like material. It’s soft but it’s not high quality satin. It has a sort of crinkly element to it. It is padded though so it’s nice and cushy. The blindfold has two elastic bands that are used to hold it in place securely. The elastic is stretchy so even those with large noggins should be fine. The blindfold is 7.15” long, 3” wide over the eyes, and 2.75” wide over the nose. There’s only a slight indent for the bridge of the nose. This creates a tenting effect that allows you to look down your nose and see what’s going on. This kind of sucks but it’s not the worst thing ever.

Handcuffs
These handcuffs don’t get much use from me. They’re flimsy and poorly made. One side of the handcuffs is constantly jamming and does not stay closed. When it does stay closed, it's nearly impossible to open again. I can’t stand the liner on the handcuffs. However, if you’re just wanting some light bondage and restraint, they should perform just fine. The cuffs were about as comfortable as you would expect with cheap handcuffs. They won't be comfortable for long term wear at all. When my partner and I did use these with another pair of handcuffs, they worked well to restrain my partner’s wrists and hold them against the headboard. To be honest, they performed just as I expected, but I expected poor quality and performance.

Paddle
This paddle is great! I absolutely love it. As a newbie to impact play, I was looking for something that wasn’t too intimidating or too painful. I found the perfect paddle to ease me into the realm of impact play. The paddle will leave red marks on the skin after a nice hard smack but will not leave bruises or permanent marks. The letters on one side of the paddle, unfortunately, do not leave an impression on the skin, even with a powerful smack. When using the entire surface area of the paddle, the paddle lands on the skin with a thud. Using the edge of the paddle will produce more of a sting on the skin but it’s nothing unbearable. This paddle is excellent to use when your partner is tied up and blindfolded. Luckily, this kit allows you to use it in just this way.

Blindfold
This blindfold will stretch to accommodate many different head sizes, making it very comfortable for most people. The dual elastic holds it firmly in place so it does not slide around a lot in use. Unfortunately, it’s rather thin and because it isn’t black, it doesn’t block out all of the light.

All of these items can be cleaned with a damp cloth or toy wipe. They’re not insertable toys so they shouldn’t need to be sanitized or deep cleaned. However, if they come in contact with bodily fluids, lubes, oils, or lotions, be sure to wipe them clean before storing them.

The handcuffs and blindfold are small and can easily be tossed in a toy box, dresser drawer, or even a pillowcase on your bed. They’re not discreet but they’re easy to hide. If you want to travel with these, they shouldn’t look too out of place in a bag of luggage. The paddle, on the other hand, is larger but still compact. It’s a little over a foot long and can be stored in a toy box, dresser drawer, or between your mattress for easy access. It does have the elastic loop at the end that can be used to hang the paddle on the wall. Traveling with the paddle may be more difficult but it’s size shouldn’t make it too difficult to hide in a bag. It’s relatively flat and will easily slide between your layers of clothes.

Unfortunately, I just moved across the state and the packaging for this kit is buried in my mountain of boxes. Bear with me as I recall the details as best I can. If I can find the packaging before the editing window is closed, I’ll post pictures.

The kit came packaged in a grey, cardboard box that has a plastic window on the front. You can clearly see what’s inside. On the front and the side it says “The S&M Collection.” I noticed that the “S&M” on the box were stickers so I peeled one sticker off. Underneath, I saw that the box originally said “The Grey Collection.” Instant groan-inducer. Number one, I really dislike the Fifty Shades of Grey series for many reasons I won’t go into here. Number two, the fact that the company couldn’t produce new boxes and just used a poorly placed sticker to rename the collection left a bad impression on me. On the back of the packaging was the beginning of an erotic short story. The rest of the story can be found online (I believe...). When I received my box it was torn, smashed, and just beat up. The packaging definitely didn’t make a good first impression.

Inside of the box I found a pre-drafted Dominant/Submissive contract that you’re supposed to sign with your partner. The contract sets limits, punishments, and responsibilities of both the dom and the sub. I have a big problem with this “pre-written” contract. It does not allow you to set your own limits and terms of the contract. If you’re truly interested in drafting and signing a dom/sub contract (a la Fifty Shades), please do your research about real contracts written by experienced community members. A contract can be a great addition to your relationship but make sure it is something you and your partner want, feel comfortable with, and agree on. A contract is not something that should be taken lightly.

Handcuffs
If I were rating each item of this kit separately, the handcuffs would receive a whopping one star. They sit in my toy collection unused. Handcuffs have never been my favorite method for bondage but these are the worst I’ve used. A pair of handcuffs I bought from Spencers seem to hold up to play better than these do.

Paddle
My partner and I are new to the world of impact play so we were really excited to receive this paddle. I know it is not the highest quality at all, not by a long shot. However, we really enjoyed using this paddle and it opened up the door for us to purchase better quality paddles. It was unintimidating in size and did not produce a lot of pain when it’s used on thicker skin. On thinner, more sensitive areas, it can sting for a while afterwards but that’s to be expected with any impact tool. For a beginner paddle, this is a five star paddle.

Blindfold
I like this blindfold, but I don’t love it. I wish the nose was cut a bit higher so it didn’t tent so much. I also wish it were thicker so it completely blocked out the light. When I wore this, I could still see vague shadows when there were lights on in the room. However, it’s comfortable, fits well, and blocks most of my vision. Overall, it’s a 3 star blindfold.


Overall, I enjoyed this kit a fair amount and believe it's a 3 star kit. I'm not absolutely crazy over it as a whole but it did prove to be useful for my partner and I. I would only recommend this kit to couples who are just beginning to explore BDSM and all that it has to offer. It would make a good kit to pack for a weekend getaway but it won't be a long time toybox staple for most people.
