All Tied Up
I'm very pleased with these sash restraints. Not only are they lightweight and comfortable to wear, but they provide so many different uses. These are not actually made from silk, but still are very smooth against your skin. We're not new to restraints, but I'm very glad that we made this purchase!

Use
Silky Sash Restraints by Sportsheets are a very comfortable and non-intimidating introduction into the world of light BDSM. These are best used in couple's situations. Though these are marketed as beginner pieces, they work equally well for someone who's more seasoned in restraints. The versatility of these sashes make it a wonderful addition to anyone's toy box.
Variety of uses:
- Blindfold
- Gag
- Wrist restraints (tied in front, back, etc.)
- Ankle restraints
- Costume Accessory
- Hair tie
-- Let your imagination run wild!
The larger your wrist/ankles, the less material there is to tie with. I'm a larger woman, and there wasn't an issue with lack of material in the positions we tried. There are some limitations due to length, but with the variety of uses, it's not a big deal.
Each package contains two silky sashes.
Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit
These restraints are are available in both black and red and are made from a silky, satin material that is very smooth and lightweight. While the product page claims that these are made from silk, I find that difficult to believe. These seem more like a wide ribbon material that you'd find in a craft store.
The sashes glide very smoothly on the skin and are very comfortable to use and wear. While the material seems cheaper than actual silk, they aren't scratchy or cheap feeling. These feel like they will last a long time, as long as care is taken when using them.
When using, be careful that you don't catch the material on anything. A little snag on the piece and it will cause a very obvious pull in the fabric that cannot be fixed.
The size of these sashes are very non-intimidating and easy to use, especially if you're new to being restrained/restraining someone. Each piece is straight other than the ends, which are cut at an angle. The ends are folded over and are stitched, and the sides are also stitched, so there's no worry about whether or not the ends are going to fray.
These work well for any gender and are one-size-fits-all pieces. I can't imagine these not fitting anyone's wrists or ankles, but some positions might be ruled out based on the length.
Length: 4'
Width: 4"
Care and Maintenance
Though these aren't actual silk, I would use caution when washing and caring for them. If necessary, the delicate cycle on your washing machine should work fine, but if you're concerned, you can always hand wash and air dry.
Storing these sashes is simple! It's not obvious what they're for, so leaving them out in the open shouldn't be an issue. They do fold up well and fit easily into a drawer or nightstand without problem if you'd rather keep them hidden.
Since these fold up so nicely, they are travel friendly and would tuck nicely in a purse or backpack.
Packaging
Silky Sash Restraints come in a thin, cardboard package that looks like it belongs on a peg hook, and opens up on the top. On the front it has the name of the product and an image of a couple with the woman wearing the restraints. It's not discreet as it shows what the pieces are for, but it is tasteful, showing no nudity.
The back also has the same couple, only a smaller image, and tells you the size of the items. There's a small oval hole that gives you the chance to touch the sashes without even opening the box.
The box could be used to store the sashes, but it doesn't seem like it would last over time. I just folded mine up, and put them into my toy box.

Experience
My husband and I tried many different positions with these sashes and are very pleased with the outcome. There were very few things we were unable to do due to the size of these pieces. They worked well on both of us at various times and can be tied tight enough that it's difficult to remove yourself from them. I was very impressed with that aspect. I figured with how smooth the material is that it would be easy to slide out of them.
Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
Though these are very simple and though they aren't made for heavy play, I love them! Anything goes with these restraints and I appreciate them for how versatile they truly are! Even with the inexpensive price tag, I haven't had any issues with the quality of these. They are very well made and should last a long time!
