The Extreme Pure Gold Cuffs from California Exotics are a great pair of sturdy handcuffs. While these cuffs are sturdy, I would recommend them for beginners, and those interested in light bondage. I just don't feel that these would hold up to any heavy bondage situations.

The cuffs are meant to be used in couples play, though I do feel like these could safely be used in solo play as well. The cuffs disconnect easily from the chain, and really, the wearer should have absolutely no problem releasing themselves even with their hands bound behind their back. That being said, actually putting the cuffs on is MUCH easier when you have a second pair of hands.

The purpose of these handcuffs is, obviously, to restrict the wearers movement. You can cuff your partners (or your) hands behind his or her back, or even in front; though I personally prefer to have my hands cuffed behind me, as it makes the dynamics of the power play a bit more intense.

You could also use these to "attach" the wearer to an object (such as a bedpost).

One more great use for these cuffs is simply as a photo prop. These cuffs are so beautiful, and they really do photograph amazingly. If you're interested in BDSM photography, these are a great addition to your tool box. Heck, if you're interested in BDSM at all, these are a great addition.

These cuffs are really elegant looking. Here, take a look:



What are they made out of, you ask? They're made out of metal and polyurethane. Both materials are fairly body safe. The material feels very nice against my skin. The outsides of the cuffs feel very soft where the black spots are, yet slightly rough where the glitter is. The insides of the cuffs are made of a black material that feels very smooth, and soft, against my sensitive skin.

The metal on these cuffs appears to be of high quality, as well. I imagine that the cuffs will hold up for a very, very long time.

And for those of you wondering if the material has a smell to it? It does, but I can't notice it unless my nose is right up against it (and really, you're probably not going to be putting your nose that close to the cuffs).

Now, the design...

Personally, I think the look is really sexy. I love the leopard print, and adore the glitter. My boyfriend, on the other hand, finds the glitter to be a bit overwhelming, and has told me that he wishes they were more muted. I also sort of have a love-hate relationship with the glitter, as it seems to get EVERYWHERE, which is a real shame. For instance, it gets on my boyfriends hands as he cuffs my hands behind my back.. Then, because glitter is on his hands, he needs to go and wash his hands before playing with me, as glitter isn't really something I want inside of me.

Okay, so the glitter thing kind of stinks, at least when you consider that it sheds so badly. But, really, these cuffs are kind of cool. I like the large D ring that sits on each cuff, and I love the fact that the chain is removable.

I also really like that these cuffs are adjustable, as I have small wrists (most cuffs end up being too big). The cuffs are set up with the sort of closure that you'd find on a belt.

Now I know you're wondering about how big they are...
Each cuff measures about 9.5" in length, and slightly over 2" in width. The cuffs are adjustable, with their being 4 closure options. These cuffs should fit people with both large and small wrists just fine.

The chain measures about 8" in length, with each link being about 0.5" in width. All in all, the length is okay, but I did find myself wishing it was slightly shorter.

I really wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased them. I guess I was thinking they would be just a pair of cheap cuffs to add to my collection, so I was sort of surprised (pleasantly so) by the high quality.

The cuffs worked out well for me. As I am the one who wears the cuffs, I can tell you that I found them to be very comfortable, but not so comfortable that I forgot I was wearing them.

For the play that my partner and I engage in, these were just fine. That being said, we don't engage in heavy BDSM sessions, and all of our play is fairly tame. Still, these held up well. If we were in any situation where he truly needed to restrain me, these wouldn't work out well. Firstly, I can easily release myself (that's a good for beginners!) by just disconnecting the chain. Secondly, while these are quality cuffs, I just don't believe that they'd be able to hold up in heavier BDSM sessions.

All in all, though, these cuffs are pretty awesome. I enjoy wearing them. I think they look really sexy, and they add a lot to my play sessions.

Honestly, I don't clean these a lot. They just don't seem to get messy, but if you do need to clean them... I would recommend just wiping them down with a toy cleaner wipe.

As for storage, I store these cuffs in a ziplock bag in a box that holds my other BDSM gear.

As you can see, the box isn't really something you'd want out when mom comes to visit (unless your mom is really cool and understanding, and in that case? I envy you). I mean, the girls not naked, but the box is not keeping any secrets about what's inside.

Inside the box, the cuffs are in a plastic bag. That's the extent of the packaging.

In my opinion, the packaging was a bit excessive. The box is a fair bit bigger than the cuffs, and really, it's not needed.

As for instructions? There were none included in the box, but the box cover did list some details about the product. I can't really complain about the lack of instructions, as this product is pretty much self-explanatory.
