A great accessory for testing the waters of BDSM
While not the best set of wrist restraints on the market, the Sex & Mischief Beginner's Handcuffs by Sportsheets are a great set to have around. They will not stand up to heavy play but they are great for the couple that is wanting to introduce some light BDSM into their relationship. The cuffs are both comfortable to wear and well made. You also can't pass up the price.

I decided to invest in these cuffs since I had wanted to introduce some light BDSM into my relationship. One of the main reasons that I chose these cuffs was their very affordable price and the quality that Sportsheets is known for.
One of the first things that I noticed when I opened the box is how indiscreet the packaging is. The cuffs come in a cardstock box that has a black and white photo of a nude woman artfully displaying the cuffs, the words Sex & Mischief are written above the picture and Beginner's Handcuffs is written below. The back of the package also has Sex & Mischief written across it as well as a little story about a couple using the cuffs. There is also another photo of the nude woman and a picture of the cuffs. While the box is quite sturdy the images and text make it a bit hard to pass off as something else, if you throw the box out it looks a bit odd in your weekly recycling bin. When you open the box you will find the cuffs packaged in a little plastic bag. Now on to the cuffs.
The cuffs are made out of polypropylene webbing, nickel free metal hardware, Velcro, polyester binding, and polyester velboa fabric. For appearance the cuffs are made of a black fur/velour fabric with black webbing running down the center, the hardware is a silver color and is attached at the middle of the cuff with a webbing loop. The inside of the cuff is just as smooth polyester knit. The edges of the fabric are bound with a soft black fleece. They measure fourteen inches end total, the fabric portion is nine inches long and the Velcro is five inches long.
As for wearing, the cuffs are actually quite comfortable. My only wish is that they would have put the fuzzy side of the fabric to the inside instead of the smooth side. The fabric part is wide enough that you should not have any problems with the Velcro rubbing your skin. The cuffs are not padded but are still comfortable. I would not want to wear them all night however. If your wrist measure over eight inches the fuzzy side of the Velcro may be in contact with your skin. The maximum size that the cuffs could be comfortably be adjusted to is twelve inches, the minimum is six inches. They seem fairly cool while wearing so sweating shouldn't be a problem.
The cuffs seem to be very well made and use quality materials. The only problem that I have is that the ring on them is a split right like those used on a key-chain instead of a solid ring. Also one corner of the webbing is a bit frayed but that is nothing 5 seconds and a lighter can't fix. The snaps seem to be fairly strong when clipped together. I would not recommend them for more hardcore bondage but as I said they are great for light restraining.
The box does not give care instructions but if you were to remove the hardware you should be fine hand-washing in cool water and air drying them. After they are dry you would just have to reattach the ring. For storage you could keep them in the box they came in, though it is rather large and not discreet. I personally keep mine either clipped together in the toy drawer when they are not in use.
For use the cuffs could be used for a variety of purposes. For me personally they have been used to restrain me to the bed a few times. We have also used them with the cuffs being clipped together while he holds my hands above my head. These could also be used with a leash clipped into the rings. They would be a great spare set to have if you own an under the bed restraint system.
All in all, I am very pleased with these cuffs. There are a few places that there could be improved. Overall these are a great investment for someone who is testing the waters on spicing things up a bit.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
I am still quite fond of these cuffs. I added a center strap to my under-the-bed restraint system where they now stay. I have highly recommended them to friends who are in the market for a set of well priced restraints.
