A Decent Introductory Kit
The Sex and Mischief Wild About S&M Kit by Sportsheets really didn't cut it for me but then again, I'm not a beginner. The kit would be best for those who have yet to be introduced to these products and want to try them, but cannot or do not want to spend a lot of money on them. Once introduced, the buyer can determine whether or not they enjoy each specific item during play and if they realize they don’t like any of it, at least they didn’t break the bank to experiment.

Pros
inexpensive, 3 pieces, whip can provide light sting, non-intimidating appearance.
Cons
cuffs are garbage, quality is mediocre.
The Sex and Mischief Wild About S&M Kit by Sportsheets is an inexpensive kit that would probably be best suited for beginners. My partner actually purchased this without me knowing. After he had ordered it, he told me. I looked online at what he purchased and I was like, “seriously?” My partner and I have some quality cuffs and blindfolds already so I wasn’t exactly sure why he purchased it. We decided to use the items anyway.
The kit arrived packaged in a cardboard box. The front of the box has the product name and a photo of a model with the kit items. The back of the packaging has a little story, states the company website, included contents, and material composition of the items. The packaging is not discreet at all. The packaging is also not ideal for storing the items because it’s so bulky. We keep our items underneath our nightstand.
Inside of the box, the items are wrapped in plastic. The kit includes a blindfold, a pair of handcuffs, and a whip. The packaging states that the materials that make up the items are: elastic, polyester fabric, polyester binding, nickel free metal hardware, vinyl fabric, and wood. I’ve taken measurements of the items but if you need additional measurements, let me know and I’ll get them for you.
Blindfold
Width of mask: 7 ½ inches
Length of mask (down centre): 3 inches
Elastic band unstretched: 13 inches
Elastic band stretched as much as I could: 28 inches
Cuffs
Width between cuffs (linked area): 3 ½ inches
Adjustable circumference: 5- 7 ½ inches
Whip
Length of handle: 6 ¼ inches
Lengths of whip tails: 11 ½ inches
The blindfold (or sleeping mask) has the furry material on the outside of the mask and a silky smooth material on the inside. The material that sits against your face is not silk but it’s absolutely lovely feeling against the skin. It’s very soft. I suppose you could use the furry outer part of the blindfold against your eyes but there really is no need since the inside material of the mask is nice and comfortable.
The blindfold is basically one long oval. There isn’t any indentation for the bridge of your nose. The blindfold secures to the head with a stretchy elastic band. The band stretches a lot as you can see from the measurements above. It’s a thin band and is comfortable when worn. When I was wearing the mask, I could see a bit of light when I looked down. The mask doesn’t completely block out light (or sight), but it does a fairly decent job.
The included whip is all black in colour with one gold coloured metal piece at the top of the handle holding the binding together. The whip is extremely light. At the base of the handle there is a loop (5 inches in length) that can be used to hang the whip up when you are finished with it and/or put onto the wrist while using it.
There are 11 tails to the whip. I’m not sure if this number varies with each kit but the whip I received has 11. With the tails of the whip being so light, it’s not going to provide an extreme amount of pain. When lightly slapping the tails against the skin, it actually provides more of a tickle. When the whip was used as hard as we could (putting a lot of force in our slaps), we found that the whip does actually provide a bit of sting so there is a small “ouch” factor for those who want to include this in their play. At full force swinging, the whip does leave a bit of red marks on the skin but quickly fade.
The cuffs are the least appealing piece in this kit. The cuffs are metal with furry leopard print cover on the wrist portions of the cuffs. There is no padding to the cuff covers and the covers are not secured to the cuff. What this means is that 1) with no padding, the metal is going to hurt your wrists if you show any resistance 2) it’s not comfortable 3) since the covers are not secured to the cuff, it moves around while wearing them and often times the cover will slide to the other side, leaving the wearer with nothing between their wrist and the metal.

Experience
...continued
The handcuffs came with a little set of keys. I’m not exactly sure why because the cuffs have a safety piece to them to take the cuffs off quickly. The safety piece is located at the bottom of the cuff. It is a little “tab” of metal, which you (or the wearer) presses downward and the cuffs can be removed. Another thing about the cuffs is that half of the time the cuffs do not click properly to secure the cuff to the wrist. When we had used the cuffs there were a few times where the cuffs would just not secure, or would become unsecured during play. These cuffs are ridiculous.
The overall quality of this set is rather low. I typically wouldn’t suggest lower quality to beginners but in this instance I am and I’ll explain why. The kit is $13.99 and you get three pieces. For a person who has never used any of these items before, it’s a decent introductory kit. The blindfold will fit any size head and does a good job at blocking most of the light out. The whip is light, easy to use, and can provide a range of sensations from tickle to light sting. The cuffs… well, I wouldn’t recommend these to anybody.
All of the pieces are non-intimidating in appearance, which is also a great quality for beginners or their partners who are a bit hesitant (but of course, still consenting). This kit will not last you a lifetime, but assuming you purchase this as an introductory kit, you’re going to want to upgrade eventually anyway. If the beginner doesn’t enjoy sensory play with the blindfold, or the sting from the included whip, at least they didn’t have to pay a lot of money to find that out!
I’ve decided to give this kit a 3 out of 5 because of the reasons I had stated above. My favourite piece to the kit is the whip. I really like it because I’m not into extreme pain but the light sting is nice. If I didn’t already have blindfolds, I’d get use out of the mask as well. As for the cuffs, we will never use them again. We have much better quality cuffs already and we really aren’t fans of metal cuffs. I’ll probably end up making a necklace out of the cuff keys. I’d recommend this kit to those who are interested in an inexpensive, introductory kit. The kit will not last you forever, but it will do a good job at introducing you to the items in a non-intimidating, inexpensive way.

Follow-up commentary

I chose, "I still don't like" because my partner and I are not beginners. I like the whip in the kit but the cuffs are absolute garbage and the blindfold really doesn't get much use here since both my partner and I have our own preferred mask (and this is not it).
