If it wasn't obvious, I'm not a novice anal player. I love it, especially with toys. But, this was my first glass anal plug. I had wanted one for a long time, but couldn't find an affordable one that was the size I wanted. I could find plenty of probes, but not a plug. Then I discovered the Sexy Spade from Doc Johnson. I didn't even know they made glass toys to be honest. This shows in the craftsmanship of the plug, but my ass was forgiving and didn't mind the imperfections. I recommend this for those who have had a good amount of anal play experience, but aren't looking for something extreme. This plug filled, was noticeable but comfortable, and definitely pleasing.

The Sexy Spade is made of tempered glass. Being tempered it retains temperatures very well which can be a lot of fun. It can be heated up or cooled down with water and or ice cubes. Glass is one of the safest materials because it isn't porous and can be sterilized for sharing. It is absolutely safe for people with allergies (can you even be allergic to glass?!). Because glass is obviously firm, make sure that you get a size you can handle. Glass is not forgiving. The other down side is that it can be broken or chipped at which point you need to immediately stop using the toy. Tempered glass does have a higher resistance to breaking than regular glass though.

The Sexy Spade's shape is like the name, a spade and comes in different sizes: small,medium, large. I chose small since it really isn't all that small and I didn't want to my eyes to be bigger than my ass, which has happened before. The size ended up being exactly what I wanted. It is almost 3 1/2" tall, 3" insertable length, and 4 3/4" around the largest part of the bulb. The stem is a good amount smaller than the bulb which makes it good for staying in and allowing the sphincter muscles to relax. It meets a flat round base that isn't too large for extended wear.

It is very pretty, but no where near perfect. I have other glass toys, some over a hundred dollars. This one is noticeably of lower crafting quality, but I honestly didn't mind all that much and I know my ass didn't! The stem and base are clear glass while the spade bulb has bands of colored glass fused to it. You can feel the bands a bit since they stick out slightly. There is also a divot in the side, a rough grain of glass on the stem, and a bunch of bubbles. While it doesn't look nearly as impressive as the one in the picture, it still is pretty with the swirls of blue and amber.

Relaxation is really important with toys of hard material and at first I wasn't ready. With a bit of lube, repositioning, and breathing I was able to slide the plug in. There really is no time to adjust since the shape makes insertion fast. I was concerned that the tip would be too pointy, but it wasn't all. The cold glass felt amazing and I didn't mind the tiny bit of pain I experienced while my muscles relaxed around the toy. The feeling was exactly what I wanted. It sat right past my sphincter muscles where I get the most arousal from anal play. Pushing the base with light pulses got me really worked up.

I walked around my apartment in the plug and found that it was more comfortable than I thought it was going to be. I wouldn't recommend this for use outside the home, but it is suitable for extended wear. Looking at myself in the mirror, this plug looks HOT! The base isn't too big between the cheeks, but it is kind of weird that you can see down into the glass. I wore this for about a half hour and noticed that depending on the way I was sitting, the toy would come out a bit so that part of the stem was exposed, but it never popped out which probably makes it decent during sex. I'm not ready to wear something this hard during sex yet, so maybe I'll save that for my followup!

Glass is the simplest material to care for. Use any kind of lubricant that you want. Even though this is an anal toy, you don't need to use an anal lubricant. The glass makes any lubricant feel even more slick than normal. Cleaning is a cinch! You can boil this, or put in the dishwasher to sterilize it. Using soap and water is fine too since this isn't porous. Because glass is breakable, I would store it back in the package or in a plush pouch.

I really wish this came with a plush pouch to safely store the toy but it doesn't. It comes in a flimsy plastic box that isn't much larger than the toy. There is not a whole lot of information on the box, but it is suitable enough for storage.

I am giving the Sexy Spade small 5 stars. It was a great experience for a first time and has encouraged me to get another glass plug in the future when I am ready to move up in size. This was so much more comfortable than I thought and the shape felt so tantalizing. This is one plug I will be using over and over again, good thing the material will last forever as long as I don't get butter fingers and drop it!
