Up the Ridge and Over the Edge... again and again and again
This is a great prostate massager/vibrator combination that can most certainly enhance the power of your orgasms. You can use this toy alone or with a friend and the best part is that ir really doesn't matter what gender you are!

Pros
Great prostate stimulation, soft silicone, strong vibrations
Cons
Hard to clean, molding seam on the front and back, can turn on by itself when you're not using it.
The Nexus Ridge Rider is another in the Nexus line of unisex sex toys that are designed to work with both Gspot and Pspot stimulation. I'm a guy, and I've only used this on my Pspot, so that's what I'll focus on for this review. Just by looking at the shape of this toy, I was pretty sure before I had a chance to try it that it would make good contact with my Pspot. My hunch was correct and I found that the Ridge Rider instantly felt right at home once I got it inserted and positioned. My first session with the RR I really wanted to see how good it was for having a hands free prostate orgasm, and I was especially curious about how the vibrations might effect that one way or the other. While I found the vibrations nice, they were more of an impediment to having a full blown super O, so I ended up turning them off and just using the toy as I would use any other massager. Once all was quiet in my butt, the waves of Super O's started rolling in, and for about an hour I was in orgasm heaven.
The rest of the time I've used this toy in conjunction with regular masturbation. In this capacity, using the vibrations is really nice actually. I find that with a fresh battery and the RR on and buzzing away I can have an orgasm with remarkable speed and intensity. On several occasions I've used the toy while I buzzed my penis with my Hitachi magic wand, and those orgasms were so intense that I ceased to be a functioning member of society for a little while.
You can use the RR lying down, standing up or you can sit on it and actually ride it and grind on it. In the latter case, I've found that you need to work up to that point during a session because going right to grinding can get painful until you've loosened up a bit. One other note of caution is that removing the toy can be a little bit irritating because of the ridges, so go slowly here.
The Ridge Rider is made from really nice brushed silicone that is fairly soft. As the name of the toy implies, there are ridges that run along the length of the shaft, spaced about 1/8" apart. If you're new to anal play, I would stay away from this one off the bat. The ridges gave me some pause, and the truth is that because of them, I don't think I'll be using this toy every day. That said, they do seem to give some really pleasant sensations once the toy is in an buzzing away. Also, because of the ridges it can be a little tricky to get this thing really clean without some fastidious scrubbing. I find I scrub it a couple of times before I get all odors off of it.
The form of the Ridge Rider is quite similar to other proven Pspot massagers on the market, especially other Nexus massagers, with the closest resemblance being the the G-Rider. The two main differences that set it apart are that it is slightly less girthy and of course that there are ridges running along the length of the shaft. As I said above, the shape of this toy is really well suited for prostate stimulation and I think that the size strikes a pretty nice balance, giving a sense of fullness while not being overwhelming. Also, the shape of the toy is nice because it makes gentle enough contact with my Pspot, as opposed to my Nexus Excel, which really hammers it. I love my Excel dearly, but I reserve it for super O orgasms, since traditional orgasms can get a little bit painful with it making such direct contact with my prostate. This is not the case with the Ridge Rider. One thing that I don't like about this toy is the molding seam along the centerline of the toy shaft. The seam doesn't extend to the tip of the toy, but it's definitely pronounced along the shaft, and I could see this being an issue with some folks. So far I haven't noticed it during use, but it's something to be aware of.
This toy really is a great enhancement to traditional masturbation. While I'm not usually a fan of vibrating my prostate, the Ridge Rider is really well designed and I've actually removed plugs that I had been using during a session and grabbed for the RR because I wanted the vibrations. There are five vibration settings that go from a solid strong buzz to a stop and start program. My favorite is one that rolls up and down in intensity, sort of like revving an engine. That one seems to bring me to an orgasm the quickest. Like I said, for hands free sessions, I think the vibrations just get in the way, so I turn them off. I do however think that this toy could be absolutely spectacular with the vibrations and hands free use if they incorporated MP3 vibration functionality into it. I like to listen to music when I am going for prostate orgasms, and when I was trying this out with the vibrations initially, the thought that kept popping into my head was how great it would be to sync up the vibrations with the music I was listening to. As it is, the vibrations are out of synch, and that becomes a distraction. As an anal toy, it stays in place well and it really comfortable once inserted.
As with any silicone toy, you need to avoid silicone lubes because they will damage the toy. I don't like water based lubes, so I use grapeseed oil, and that works fine. Albolene oil is better because it is thick, but I ran out and the grapeseed seems to be doing fine. once the lube is in between the ridges, it retains it quite well. Washing the toy is a little bit more difficult than if it were smooth along the shaft. The ridges naturally trap odors and other stuff, so you need to be particularly careful to give extra attention to cleaning these areas out. The vibration unit is not waterproof, and water can work its way into the battery case, so you need to be careful. You can remove the unit for cleaning and this allows for boiling of the toy if you really want to disinfect it for sharing. I found putting a little bit of lube on the bullet vibe made removal an reinsertion quite a bit easier. No storage case is provided, so be sure to keep the Ridge Rider in a place where it is less likely to attract lint and dust particles.
The ridge rider came in a nice box with a clear window that allowed the toy to be viewed. Also included on the box was a nice little silicone "touch me" sample which I thought was kind of cool I suppose if you felt like it, you could use the box for storage, but it certainly isn't designed with that purpose in mind. They include a little instruction pamphlet that is written in a few different languages. Overall the advice is pretty good, but since I think this toy is better suited for those that are used to putting things in their butts, I suspect that most people will have their own ideas of how to get the best out of the Ridge Rider.
One thing I should note is that the toy (at least the one I have) occasionally will turn on all on its own. I have been woken up a few times in the middle of the night when it just started to buzz away. I know lots of people prefer to remove batteries from their toys when they aren't being used, and with this massager, it seems like a necessity. I just remove the and cap to the battery case without removing the battery, and that solves the problem. If you do this, I find that you get a few good sessions out of the toy before the buzzes start to diminish appreciably. Using only one AAA battery is nice, but it definitely comes at the expense of vibrational longevity compared to other toys with multiple batteries. Also, a fresh AAA will give really nice strong vibes, surprisingly so. So far this seems to be a decent tradeoff that I am fine with.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it2 months after original review
As I expected, the Ridge Rider has continued to be a regular part of my rotation. While it doesn't get the sort of attention a couple of my other toys get, I do find that this guy can take me to 11 if the mood is right. Recently I was going to let my GF borrow the toy to see if it did anything for her Gspot, and I couldn't find the bullet vibe that inserts into the bottom. I initially was a little bit miffed about this, because it's a custom bullet vibe and I did enjoy the vibrations. I have to say though, that using the Ridge Rider without the bullet inserted has given me a new fondness for the toy. Without the bullet vibe the base of the toy becomes very flexible, and when inserted I can actually ride the toy, whereas with the bullet inserted that wasn't really possible without pushing the buttons on the bottom and switching the vibe pattern. The flexibility also allows for me to clench down on the toy which in turn forces the toy to move up and down around my pspot, and the feeling is really quite pleasant indeed. If you have one of these, definitely try using it without the vibe inserted, and if you're looking at getting this toy, you should know that doing this gives you a really fun and interesting alternative use for the toy, which is always a nice bonus.
