Vibrating butt plug
by

There is nothing Rookie about this fellow!

The Rookie Plug is certainly not for any rookie but the girth and rumbly vibes make it a great toy for more advanced users.

Use

The Rookie Plug by California Exotics is a lovely probe that will entice even the most advanced of anal users. It is definitely too big for beginners but is certainly something you can look forward to.

It is smooth TPR and comes in basic black. It has 2 bulbs, a flared suction cup base, and some lovely vibrations. It really is not travel friendly but it is relatively quiet. It would not be heard through a closed door.

It can be used either anally or vaginally and with its girth and beautiful shape, it will certainly hit all the pleasure spots you want it to. Vaginally, it does an amazing job of hitting the G-spot just right. Anally, the deep vibrations are intense and would certainly do a great job of hitting the P-spot for the men out there.

Material / Texture

This toy is made from smooth, black TPR. Coming out of the box it had a very strong, almost rubbery odor. Washing it a few times with warm water and antibacterial soap helped diminish the scent but did not get rid of it completely.

It does have quite a bit of drag and with its rather thick size I suggest not using this toy without lube. You can use either water or silicone based lube with it, just make sure you have it handy.

TPR is a bit porous so I would certainly suggest covering it up with a condom when sharing and even if you are going to go from vaginal play to anal and vice versa. You do not want any bacteria transferred into your girly bits. You cannot boil this toy. Soap and water, or toy cleaner is about it. Be sure to clean it between uses and orifices. It is free of Phthalates and latex, and is hypo-allergenic.

The remote is PU covered plastic so it has a nice soft texture and is not slippery at all.

Design / Shape / Size

The Rookie Plug consists of 2 pieces - The plug itself and the remote. Although the cord is attached to the plug, it can be removed from the control.

The control is 1.75 X 4 inches and fits nicely in the hand. It has one sliding button that goes from off to vibration strength I, II, and III. The coiled cord inserts into the top of the remote. The cord is about 3 feet long and stretched out extends to about 4.5 feet. It takes 2 AA batteries that are inserted into the back of the control.

The plug itself is rather large. It is 4.5 inches long and about 4 of that is insertable. It has 2 bulbs and a suction cup base. The top bulb is a hefty 1.5 inches in diameter at its widest point and the second bulb is an even girthier 2 inches.

It does have a rather large suction cup base. I did try it on a few surfaces around the house. The shower tile would have been ideal but the toy itself is just a little too heavy. Gravity took over in no time and it fell off in no time flat. It did stay put on a counter, the floor and a hard chair. The chair was a great place for it. It made hovering onto it rather easy and if your legs get tired, you can have a seat.

Although the box claims that this toy is for beginners as well as advanced users, I would not recommend it to beginners. Brave intermediates and advanced users only should try this fellow out for size.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This guy throws out some incredibly deep, rumbly vibrations that can be felt all throughout the toy. Because the actual motor is buried deep in the middle of the probe, it is very quiet.

It has a sliding button on the control. Off at the bottom and than 3 levels of vibration. It is just straight vibrations, no patterns. The levels are listed as I (low), II (medium), and III (high). Beside each level there is a small red LED light that lights up to show you which one you are on. At its lowest level it was nice for a short while but I found myself getting it up to second and third in no time.

The control attaches to the plug with a coiled cord and can be stretched out as long as 4.5 feet if need be.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning this toy is pretty simple. Warm water and soap or toy cleaner. You cannot boil it and because of its semi porous nature, I would not use a bleach solution. TPR is happy with either water or silicone based lube.

This toy is not waterproof. Now, that being said, the cord does go into the toy through a small hole in the side. When I washed it, I did put the whole thing under the running water. I gave it a good shake to make sure no water was stuck inside and let it air dry. It still worked after this just fine.

Although the toy is not sticky or tacky in any way, it does pick up dust or hair that may be floating around rather quickly. I would suggest storing it in a small plastic or satin baggy just to keep it debris free. (This can be seen by the random cat hair stuck to it in the picture above)

Experience

I consider myself a pretty advanced anal player and this guy was pretty tough. It took some time, patience and lots of lube to get past that second bulb. Once I did though, it was heavenly.

It is certainly not a toy you would want to walk around with because of its size, but the bulbs make for a comfortable fit and that lovely fullness we always seek.

I do intend to use this toy for DP with my better half. I will include those details in the follow-up.

Follow-up commentary
I really have to say this one does not get used. The Man tried it for P-spot and did not really like it either. We attempted DP but fumbling with the curly cord just got annoying and we moved on.

I think that what gets me most is the smell it has. It still has that rubbery stench that hits me when I take it out.

Very strange about it being the wrong product pictured here on EF (so thanks for taking photos for us), I recently had a similar issue with a product I reviewed which was also a california exotics item.
