Although intended for advanced users, hence the name The Big End, I would recommend this plug to anyone who can fit a finger in their butt and who wants some stimulating and satisfying anal play. The Big End by Doc Johnson is designed in such a way that it can be appreciated by anyone from those who are beginning to explore to the advanced user. Though the Big End expands to a maximum diameter of 1 3/4 inches, it starts with a small rounded tip no wider than a single finger. With its narrow tip, the Big End easily finds the right spot to get things started and from there expands gradually to its full width. This gradual expansion allows the user to decide when they have stretched far enough, to easily back off and then to try to go a little farther on the next push. Sliding the Big End in and out gradually relaxes and expands the anal muscles to the point of finally taking it all the way. Needless to say, this feels terrific.
With the Big End the user can safely stretch their butt, which at one level or another, is something I think we are all looking for. If you are like me and you love anal play with a satisfying full feeling, the Big End is for you.

The tip and the gradual increase in width of the Big End’s head turn temptation to action with this conical shaped anal plug. Although large, the Big End's pointed tip is perfect for penetrating even a tight rectum. The shape of the Big End entices as the pointed tip stimulates and relaxes the rectum while the gradual increase in width slowly stretches the muscles. After a few minutes of slow relaxed thrusting, the 1 and ¾ inch width can be securely fitted into your butt before you know it.
Once in place, the Big End stays in place well as the widest part of the plug slips into the rectum and the outer anal muscles wrap themselves around the ¾ inch wide neck. The base of the Big End is large enough to eliminate any fear of the plug slipping all the way in, yet remains very comfortable during long term wear. While the steep drop in width between the widest part of the Big End and its neck works well to keep it in place, it also means removal needs to be done with some care.

I have worn the Big End for a variety of different activities and, for the most part, have found it to be very comfortable and secure. During sex, the Big end stayed in place and brought me to a fantastically intense orgasm. The Big end was great for masturbation if only because insertion left me with an incredible erection to start off with. The Big End, like most anal plugs or dildos made of good quality silicone, is reasonably easy to care for. Adequate clean up between uses by the same person can be accomplished with some antibacterial soap and hot tap water. Giving the Big End a through sterilization can be done in several ways. First, and my personal preference, it can be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher. When doing this it is recommended that it is washed by itself without dish washer detergent. Second, it can be sprayed down with a 10% bleach and water solution and rinsed off. Third, it can be placed in boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes.
When using the Big End, be cautious not to use silicone lubricant as this may cause the material to break down. While not using silicone lube from a bottle seems fairly obvious, also be cautious should you want to use a condom with the Big End and be sure the condom is not coated with a silicone lubricant.
The Big End looks exactly like what it is, so in the interest of discretion it should be kept out of sight while not in use. I keep mine in a box in the back of a drawer. I also wrap my Big End in a plastic sandwich bag to keep the lint and dust off and to prevent it from coming in contact with any other toys.
While traveling, I would prefer to have the Big End in my butt. However, in the world of TSA, I keep it in my checked bags in order to maintain the best control over who my kinky side is exposed to.

The packaging the Big End comes in appears to be intended to help market it if it were being sold on a store shelf. It is a plastic clam shell which makes the Big End clearly visible and includes a cardboard surround which describes the Big End and gives some information on how to use and care for it. It is by no means discreet.
As soon as I received my Big End in the mail, I excitedly unwrapped it (I could hardly wait to use it) and discarded the packaging. The packaging did not give any information I was not already well aware of and the plastic clamshell was too large and not easily reusable for storage.

Since I started this review by commenting on the tip of the Big End, I should conclude it by saying a few words about the base. The Big End is the first plug of this size, which I have found that I can wear for several hours without feeling some discomfort around the cheeks. I think this is because the Base of the Big End is a perfect balance between being big enough to keep the plug from getting lost inside the wearer yet small enough to remain comfortable during long term wears.
The base is also proportioned in such a way that is not visible under a tight bathing suit and, for me would even stay out of sight while completely nude. No I don’t have a particularly large butt, just enough to keep the base of the Big End hidden as long as I don’t bend over.
Though the Big End does not stay put very well during rigorous activity, due to the way the base fits between my cheeks, I could see wearing it under my bathing suit while just hanging out on the beach or even wearing it to a clothing optional beach, which just happens to be one of my favorite places to go while plugged.

Since I started this review by commenting on the tip of the Big End, I should conclude it by saying I also love the base. It is so comfortable and adds to the wear ability of the plug. I have used other plugs that felt really great inside me, only to have my cheeks sore after a few hours. This is not the case with the Big End. The base on the Big End remains very comfortable during long-term wear. After seven hours of having the Big End inside me, I have not experienced any soreness around the butt cheeks; whereas I tend to get a little sore after several hours of wearing some other plugs.

This is the part of the review where I like to tell about my first use of the product and first impression of a product. While my first use of the Big End involved some stretching, both on the way in and coming out, it was the gratifying stimulation which best represents this plug for me.

I have found the Big End to be so comfortable and enjoyable, that I have a hard time taking it out.
