I'll admit this right now, this was my first plug. I've had a few anal toys up until this point, but nothing like the Gum Drop. So I was curious to see how it'd work out for me.

The Packaging
The box it comes in is clear, so you can see what you get. Of course, the package itself is just littered with all the juicy details of the product. Things like "Perfect Starter Toy", "Soft and Flexible", "Safe Material", are all shown on the back.

Even a plug, if you'll pardon the pun, to follow Doc Johnson on Twitter or Facebook. What is the world coming to, I ask you?

The Toy
Appearance wise, the closest thing I can compare this toy with is a syringe. It has the flaps near the base, the end of the bullet sticking out, and the plug itself. Insertion is as easy as putting a finger on either side of the plug and the thumb on the end of the bullet (like you were holding a syringe) and just stick the needle in.

It has a mild smell to it, of course. But to be honest, it's not very obtrusive unless you are holding it close to your nose. Say if one were going to lick it before insertion. There is a mini-piece on the instructions about cleanup. Just use some alcohol?? and put it in a cool dry place.

For my part, I'm sticking to just plain soapy water. If you have your own brand of cleaner, that works fine as well, of course.

Of course, no vibrating toy is complete without batteries, or a method of recharging. And this one is no exception. Three small watch batteries are included inside the bullet. It might be a little confusing for some people. You have to open the bullet and take out a little black circle, before a connection is made. After that, the end of the bullet spins around, when it gets tighter a connection is being made, until the bullet turns on. I would have preferred a push button to turn it on and off, but this works...I guess.

The Vibrations
Finally we come to the best part of this item. Given how small it is, only a beginner to anal is likely to feel anything from the toy itself being inside their body. After all, it's about the size of a man's thumb. Where this toy shines is the powerful vibrations.

While the packaging boasts of multispeed vibrations, it's harder to make happen than it sounds. When you spin the end of the bullet, a contact is made for the batteries to power the toy. If you just barely make the contact, the vibration comes slower and the noise level is reduced. It's hard to do this if you are using the item solo. It took me holding the item with two hands to turn it slowly enough to trigger.

However, using this with a partner and you controlling the vibrations has some interesting possibilities in the area of teasing. It just takes a bit of practice at manipulating the bullet.

As I said, this was my first plug. I've got a 6" vibrator, and to be honest, the plug is much more intense. I suppose it's true that good things come in small packages. I had some concerns with the size of the toy, however. Given how slim it is, I felt that someone who has been practicing anal more frequently than I do, would have trouble keeping the toy inside.

For my part, the toy stayed inside me as I shifted from the doggy to missionary, and then sitting upright, with little hassle. So this toy is probably great for a beginner, or a male interested in exploring anal for the first time. It's very unobtrusive when it's inside you, and it's very easy to get out. Just put your fingers on the two flaps at the base, and try to depress them into this shape > and for me, the toy slid itself out. (Results may vary, of course)

Originally I had intended to try to press the tip against the base of my penis from inside my anus, in the hopes of the vibrations stimulating me. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the intense vibrations, after which I didn't have to touch the toy at all. It was pretty much a "stick it and leave it" situation.

Another thing I liked is the cleanliness of the item. From just using saliva as a lubricant, it was easily inserted, and came out nearly as clean as it went in. Just a bit of soapy water to rinse it off and I can tuck it away for another day.
