The Progasm might be the best of the Aneros line of prostate massagers for newbies and veterans alike. It provides more immediate stimulation than other models might, though results will vary from person to person. The shape hits all the right spots and the material is high quality plastic, which allows you to use any lube of choice. It is large, but nowhere near as hard to insert as I expected.

Pros
Quality material, stimulating shape, improved P tabs, improves orgasms, erections and muscle tone.
Cons
A bit pricey, learning curve required for some, can fall out.

Use
The Aneros Progasm is a stay-in-place prostate massager that is designed to move with your motions and/or muscle contractions to stimulate the prostate, while laying down or having sex.
The Aneros (like Nexus, Janus and others) are designed to be worn during masturbation or sex, or during relaxation/meditation sessions, in the case of the Super-O/Hands-free orgasm & holy grail of male orgasms quest. In these reported events, men can have body convulsing, multi-orgasmic, almost black out extended orgasms, without ejaculation that can last from minutes to hours. Not all men's prostates are created equal or the same distance from the anus though, so experiences vary and it can reportedly take years of "trying" and frustration to reach that first super-o (the equivalent of multi-orgasmic squirting in women you could say). The secret to such pleasures seems to be in not "trying" and just relaxing and letting it happen. Easier said than done. It helps to having been trained in kegels and re-wiring your body, so to speak.
Utopian orgasms aside, prostate stimulation and wearable P-spot massagers can help regular men achieve much better, intense orgasms and stronger ejaculations, with a more body centered experience.
You do not need to manipulate the Progasm. Just relax, lube, insert it and go about your business and enjoy. Aneros website has a thorough set of directions and an active community with resources to help newbies learn to enjoy their toys and get in touch with their "inner self" so to speak.
The idea is to let your natural (conscious and unconscious) anal/pc contractions alternately draw the toy in and let it slide out repeatedly. This produces some nice gentle stimulation against the prostate, which in turn sends tingles up and down your spine and around your genital area, resulting in an intense release.
They can also be used for Kegels, or to just become aware of your prostate and inner workings. I find they can help tone your PC muscles for better erection control and engorge erections more. What's not to like about that?
I recently wrote my first Sexis article about this subject, if you care to read more about it HERE
Though designed for men, some women seem to find them pleasurable for use as well (ie Travelnurse, among others)

Material / Texture
The Progasm is made of clear abs plastic. It has a smooth feeling and slightly more heft than one would guess from pictures. It is a solid, dense and relatively heavy plastic. It comes in at an 8 on the EF safety scale. It is very firm, which is good for prostate stimulation, but if it does not properly fit your anatomy, you might experience some discomfort after a while (as I did with the Aneros SGX).
The body feels good and solid, but the handle is a bit on the flimsy side by comparison (but not nearly as flimsy as the Helix arm). You would not want to sit on it for fear of breaking it, but it otherwise seems firmly attached enough for normal use to be safe. You are not supposed to sit on it anyway. It was meant to be manipulated with your muscles, not manually.
There is no discernible odor. Overall, I am quite pleased with the material. It seems to be a very smooth high quality plastic with no seams.
Besides the ice color, the Progasm comes in choice of: Blue, Black, White, Purple and Red.

Design / Shape / Size
The Progasm is the largest offering from Aneros and is a neat looking design, though slightly intimidating for a beginner to anal insertion. The first time I saw this, I really didn't think it would be ideal for me, but the mostly high scores tempted me to give it a try. It seems to have more immediate results than other Aneros models. I recently reviewed the Aneros Helix, if you would like a comparison.
The Progasm is 5 1/2" long, with 4 1/2" of that being insertable. It is 1. 1/4" in diameter or 4" in circumference. It weighs a hefty .75 lbs. It is a thick solid piece of dense plastic. The design is somewhat realistic, yet whimsical and I think the clear ice version looks extra cool. It has a sort of air bubble in the middle, for aesthetic reasons I assume.
There are two tabs on the bottom of the Progasm. They serve 3 functions. Firstly, to prevent the toy from getting lost. The front bulb is there to stimulate the perineum and act as a fulcrum for the movement of the prostate massager. The second tab, is called a Kundalini tab and rests near the tailbone. It is supposed to add some stimulation as well. Lastly, they act as a handle for inserting and removing the Progasm. These are an improvement from the other Aneros models that had dime shaped flat disks, that some found to be painful after a while on your skin. The rounded bulbs are much more comfortable.
The toy is not discreet. I think it's fairly obvious where you stick it! That said, I wouldn't hesitate to throw it in my checked luggage. After all, many of these devices are derivatives of medical devices to exercise and stimulate the prostate in the first place. It has an ergonomic handle for insertion/removal. The design is intended to be a hands-free experience, but not all men will experience the same levels or type of pleasure. Prostate stimulation, pleasure and reaction are different from guy to guy and toy to toy.
The Progasm has become surprisingly easy to insert, even for a tight ass like myself.

Performance
I was a bit skeptical that this would be comfortable, but once I was able to get it inserted, it felt wonderful. The curves felt great. The smooth rigid shape seemed to hit all the pleasure spots simultaneously. I could feel pressure or massaging of the rectum, prostate, anus and perineum, all at the same time. The Perineum tab provided nice pressure when contracting the progasm inwards, but would subside when relaxed. I did have the progasm slide out partially a few times, but the head still felt great on my prostate.
The first time I inserted the progasm, I got instantly rock hard, while having a feeling of fullness. This toy is at the large end of the insertable spectrum for me and I think it is going to get a lot of use. I can definitely feel a lot of potential here and I have just scratched the surface with it thus far.
The one problem I have with the progasm is that during intercourse it has a tendency to want to fall out. It could maybe use a smaller taper at the base. I tried a few positions and had the same result, so this will probably be relegated to solo play. My partner was not thrilled with me having to keep pushing the Progasm back in and thought I should throw it in the trash. In fairness, it probably wasn't designed to be used for wear during intercourse, like some of my other toys. I do find it slides out during solo play some too though, so that is going to keep it from getting 5 stars.

Care and Maintenance
Care is easy for the Aneros. You can wash it with hot soapy water or use anti bacterial toy cleaner/wipes after use. It should not be shared, as it cannot be completely sterilized.
I do find silicone lube lasts longer and adheres better to the plastic than water-based lubes. Maximus does work pretty well for a water-based lube and sort of adheres to the plastic. I already read suggestions on the aneros forums to use coconut oil, which is all natural and long lasting.

Packaging
The packaging immediately struck me as very luxurious when I opened my EF box. Very impressive, thick slick packaging. The Progasm comes in a Red/white/Black box that has a folding cover with the toy safely secured within a cutout. It is recyclable, but not an ideal reusable storage solution. It is not discreet. I almost think the packaging was as impressive as the toy in some ways.

Personal comments
I was hesitant to try the Progasm, for a variety of reasons, including the size being potentially too big, but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised and wish I had tried it sooner. In my ever growing prostate massager collection, this will easily jump to my top 3 toys, with the potential to be the favorite, but only time will tell. So far, I am very impressed, even though I have not experienced the "super O", but will continue to explore that.
I don't quite feel pinpoint pleasure on my prostate, like I do with some other toys, but I do get an overall great feeling with the Aneros inserted and feel pressure/stimulation on several places at once. I've gotten fairly adept at relaxing my muscles for insertion, so I can get this inserted without warm-up in under a minute easily. Once inside, it feels great and surprisingly comfortable. It gets me hard, if I am not already too.
After removing the Progasm, I can feel a difference in my insides. Almost as if it is still there or perhaps it is my rectum yearning for it to return? I use a generous dollop of silicone lube spread around the surface to ease insertion and allow movement. About a nickel to quarter sized dose.
Aneros websites often recommend douching and injecting some lube, but I have not tried either yet, but it's on my list of things to try.
Comparison to other prostate toys I've used
I've tried some other models of these toys with mixed results, but the Helix kept calling my name. The design/shape just seemed nearly ideal. I tried the Aneros SGX, which did little for me. Turns out it was designed in Asia for men 5' 6" or less in height. At almost 6' 2" that puts me way out of it's intended range. As mentioned before, I tried the Helix and enjoyed it, but wanted something even bigger and better.
The Janus anti shock was a nice looking design, but was much smaller than expected and the stimulation point too small for my taste. I got the 1" and maybe should have gone with the 1 1/4" instead. The Lux LX-2 was too large to insert, the lelo Bob pleasure object, was almost there, but maybe a hair too small to be ideal, but stll useful and ideal for extended wear. The Metal Worx Luv Plug is a nice change of pace, but doesn't always stay put. The Njoy pure plug medium, while nice, doesn't do much for the prostate. The Evolved Get a Grip is the benchmark. It never fails to satisfy me immensely. I keep hoping to find something that performs similar or better in a smaller package, but maybe I am just fooling myself. Interestingly enough the Get A Grip was the first prostate specific toy I ever tried and nothing has measured up for orgasmic intensity and direct stimulation (and that is without even turning on the vibrations), for me at least. That said, I do enjoy the other toys for different reasons.

Experience
The more I use this, the more comfortable it feels. It really is a nice feeling to insert and I can adjust to it quickly. It's a way different feeling than my other toys. Not necessarily better or worse, just different. I have found it wants to push out when I approach orgasm and come. That is disappointing. A smaller taper would do wonders. I almost wish it were about 1/2" shorter too, though it does fit and put pressure in multiple spots at once, which is interesting and different.
As a kegel exerciser, I can really feel it resist contractions and it is mildly pleasurable. I don't think this will be my stimulator to wear during PIV sex, because of the tendency to fall out, but I will use it for masturbation sessions and also to purse the "Super O". Even though it hasn't yet been the most mind blowing sex toy I've tried anally, I do find myself yearning for it, so I think I will be enjoying it and learning how to get the most from it. I can definitely feel some potential there. It does feel so naughty sticking this inside me. Such a turn on! In all honestly, I just got an erection writing this last paragraph and I just had a solo session this am with the Progasm. I am already wanting to insert it again.
Many guys claim they leak when using the Aneros Progasm (or other models too), but I have never been a leaker and this doesn't make me leak either. Maybe if I had an extended porn watching session, with it inserted, I might show a few drops, but I haven't had time to try.

Follow-up commentary
I still like it
3 months after original review
I still use this toy in my regular rotation and find it enjoyable. My results get better with each use and I am glad I took a chance on it. It's big, but really not as big as you think. The shape makes it pretty easy to insert.
