One fatal flaw keeps this from being a real winner

This is a very affordable, nice-sized prostate stimulator, that is great for beginners to intermediate prostate or anal plug users. It goes in pretty easy and hits the right spots while staying put, but my only issue with it was the pointy part on the prostate massager. It just felt too irritating vs. a rounder shape.
Unfortunately you can't really modify the shape or it would be great.

Use

Dr. Kaplan's Universal prostate probe is a butt plug with the focus on being a prostate massager. It can be worn for masturbation or sex and even longer-term wear if you so choose. It is meant to be inserted and left there, but you (or better yet your partner) could manipulate it with the handle as well.

I've seen a handful or so of "Dr. Kaplan" toys and most of them got bad reviews and people really questioned whether this guy was a real doctor or if he had any idea what he was making, because the results promised were not being realized. This one got my attention because the few reviews done were positive and the price was reasonable, so I gave it a go.

I have several prostate massagers and love to wear them during sex or masturbation. This one, like many others, moves with your PC muscle contractions to stimulate the prostate. It also applies a steady pressure and provides some feeling of fullness. Since it is also waterproof, it can, of course, be used in the shower for some wet 'n wild play. Some may enjoy sitting with it inserted and moving your hips about for more intense stimulation. The loop handle is flared for safety.

Though designed for a man, women could certainly use the prostate probe as well for anal sensations. I actually think this might be very good for a woman to wear during PIV sex.

Material / Texture

The material is non-porous silicone. It is very flexible and slightly pliaable, not firm like most other prostate toys I've tried. The texture is matte and smooth and works best with water-based lubes. It is not recommended by EF to use silicone lubes with silicone toys, as it can degrade the material.

There is no odor from the toy and it is not realistic looking. The shape is somewhat whimsical and seems like it would make good contact with the prostate, based on the dimensions and pointy head.

Silicone is a 10 on the EF safety scale and is Food-grade material, Hypo-allergenic, Latex-free, Non-porous and Phthalates-free

Design / Shape / Size

The shape is interesting looking. It has a bulbous head with a bit of a point on it, to stimulate the prostate, then a small neck and widens again at the shaft before tapering again near the base. This is to keep it in place when inserted. There is a little tickler that rests against the perineum and a loop handle for insertion and removal that nuzzles between your cheeks.

The size is not particularly intimidating or large. This is best suited for beginners to intermediate anal players. The price point is also ideal for a first-timer wanting to explore prostate stimulation on a budget. It's 4 1/4" long 2 3/4" insertable and 1 1/4" at it's widest point. It weighs in at .2 lbs.

I wouldn't say the toy is discreet, but I wouldn't be afraid to pop it in my check-in luggage either. It almost appears to look like a medical device of sorts (which many prostate stimulators were intended to be originally, but are now marketed as pleasure toys).

Performance

I thought the prostate stimulator was an ideal size and shape. It slid in without much problem, while still providing some fullness feeling and stimulation on my prostate. The tickler did nothing stimulation wise. It would have been better to be firmer. It is so flimsy, it would blow in the wind if you held it out in your hand. The other problem I found was that the little pointy part on the end nub was too pointy! I had feared this, but figured Dr. Kaplan really knew his stuff with all these toys he has his name on. It definitely seemed to tarted the right spot, but due to being pointy, it just felt kind of irritating. I wore it in the shower for a trial run and while the overall feeling was good, I couldn't help but feel like I was being stuck in the prostate by a blunt pen tip.

The second attempt, I had the same result. It immediately hit my prostate, but the pointy tip gave me a funny feeling of discomfort. I forged ahead anyway, because I wanted to feel what it was like to climax with the prostate probe inserted. I aroused myself for a little bit and then had a romp with my fleshlight in missionary position on my knees. I was able to get the sense of movement and some stimulation from the toy and it intensified as I went on. As I neared climax the irritation was overcome by pleasure. It felt better than a vanilla orgasm, but not as good as other prostate stimulators I have. As soon as I came down from cumming, the I could again feel the nagging point poking away at my prostate. Most toys I am content to keep in long after I cum, but I was ready to take this out right away.

This may work better for others, but I like a more smooth general stimulation that I get from other toys. It's too bad, because this toy has an otherwise great shape, size and material. I definitely felt like it would stay put during intercourse and masturbation or be good for long-term wear. The good news, was that it is very affordable at $19.99. A great deal for silicone and even better deal with your EF discount.

That said, the toy does what it's meant to do, but I just seem to prefer a different rounder shaped head. There was some overall pleasure, but the irritation kinda ruined it. I felt like if the tip was flatter, it would have been completely pleasurable.

Care and Maintenance

The prostate probe is pure 100% non-porous silicone. Silicone is a 10 on the EF rating scale for safety. There is no noticeable smell and it is smooth to the touch with a noticeable amount of drag. The drag can be a plus or minus depending on your preference, but a good water based lube makes it easy to slide inside your ass.

The only negative about the material is silicone draws lint and dust, but this is no worse than most any other silicone toy I have used in that regard. Alternatively, you could use a baggie or pouch to store it.

Cleaning is easy. Just wash in soap and water or use a toy wipe after sex. For a more thorough cleaning, you can boil for 3 min or soak in a 10% bleach solution. It is not recommended to use Silicone lubricant with silicone toys of course, because it can degrade the material. You can however do a spot test at your own risk.

Packaging

The packaging is a basic clear plastic clamshell case with a photo of Dr. Kaplan and the product name on the picture card. It is recyclable and not reusable, nor is it discreet. It's not eye catching, but you can see the whole product, which is good.

Follow-up commentary
This has fallen to the bottom of the prostate toy pile. I have better prostate toys and I just don't care for the point on the head. It gives me a mild discomfort that is more distracting, than stimulating. It's a shame, because this could have been a good toy.

Thanks for the great review! So which ones do you prefer instead of this one?
  • Contributor: Trysexual
Basalt. My preference is for the Love handle/Get a grip (evolved). That is far and away my favorite. I also like the Lux LX-3 and Aneros Helix/Progasm.
