The perfect 1st toy? You betcha! The perfect toy for anyone who has ever owned another dildo? I doubt it! The Gold Laced G's surprisingly small size makes the targeted consumer pool quite small in my opinion. Basically, if you are a beginner to toys, this might be appealing as a vaginal toy. This may also be appealing for those inexperienced in anal play thanks to the relatively large base. Sure, it has a lot of texture, but the dildo itself is small enough for the texture to be non-intimidating even with anal use. In addition, the ability for temperature play with glass toys makes this an easy warmup (literally). As for those looking for g-spot stimulation, we are all different, but this toy just did not have the right curve to find my G. Finally, as to whether or not this toy can reach the P-spot, it's up to the real men to find out as my boyfriend is scared of a pinky let alone a toy!

The Gold Laced G is made of pyrex glass. Now, you might wonder if pyrex glass is really that different from regular glass. The answer is yes! Pyrex glass withstands temperature change better, retains that temperature better, and it's less dense in order to keep it from shattering into a million pieces if it's dropped (it just breaks into chunks instead). Pyrex glass is often used for bakeware, so it can really retain heat. Be sure to keep that in mind when warming for temperature play!

The Gold Laced G itself feels lightweight even for a pyrex glass dildo. It has diamond shapes with lines through them as the texture. Other reviewers accurately described it as a sort of lattice work. There is no smell and no taste. The head is realistic looking with the exception of size...I have never seen a penis even close to as small in circumference. In addition, the head is not larger than the rest of the girth of the toy. Finally, due to the size of this dildo, I would not say that the texture feels very prominent or too prominent for beginners.

I personally find this dildo to be extremely lacking because of it's size or rather its girth. I would not call myself a size queen in any form, but my thumb has over half of the girth of this toy. In addition, the lack of a larger head to this toy really gives you none of the feeling that real penetration provides. However, the head is rather realistic in that it has a sort of slit and ridges. Still, if you are one of those people who enjoy the "pop" of something entering you, you might find yourself using this dildo solely for anal play, and it is still unlikely to give you a full feeling. 6 inches of length is pretty standard of the American male, but due to the girth (or lack thereof), for some reason this toy just falls...short. The lattice work would have been fantastic had this toy been thicker, and I would definitely buy another toy with this kind of texture. I always say that the spacing decides a lot for me where texture is concerned...when things are too close together and provide lots of little crevices, I often find the texture painful. However, there are no little ridges here to provide a scraping effect.

The Gold Laced G just isn't going to do it for me (I've been spoiled by some great glass toys), but I know that some beginners may find it adequate. However, if you own decently thick toys at home, I just don't feel like this is something that you want to add to the collection unless you actually have a collection at home for display or something like that.

Some last thoughts:
This is not great for travel unless it's tightly packed wrapped in bubble wrap and in between soft items.
This toy is rather obviously a dildo. For those that say it's discreet in it's little red bag, I think you may be neglecting to think of what else would be kept in a velvety-like little red drawstring bag. Don't touch that! It's just my glasses. Yeah, right! Maybe if the bags were padded, they might cover the shape a bit, but not so much in the new standard bag.

Use this toy to warm up your behind for bigger toys. Use this toy to introduce yourself to toys. Just don't use this toy vaginally if you have had an average-sized penis inside of yourself because you will be left feeling rather empty. I love the realistic look of the head, but I wish it were more pronounced. I wish this whole toy had more girth. Still, the material is great, the temperature play is pleasant, and the lattice work is gorgeous. I wouldn't use this toy in a harness...it's glass, and the base isn't around the entire bottom...just a one-sided flared base. Finally, I personally only use this toy for anal now and with just the tiniest drop of lube. It's just a kitty disappointer.

Whenever your glass toy arrives, always check for cracks or chips. If any issue is present, you must discard/exchange the toy. Pyrex glass is nonporous, hypoallergenic, and phthalates free. It can also be sterilized. Boil it, bleach it (10% solution), or put it in the top of your dishwasher (away from all other glassware). For those times in between, water and soap will do just fine, or a wipe is especially convenient. Also, the texture is not so pronounced as to make this difficult to clean, which makes me rather happy.

Any type of lubricant can be used with pyrex glass, but use it sparingly. I would also make sure the base is wiped clean of lubricant. Last but not least, storage is the same for almost every glass toy I own (the icicles line is an exception). This comes in a thin, velvety red bag wrapped in bubble wrap. I keep the bubble wrap and store it in the provided bag alongside other toys. Eden recently started offering padded bags though, and they are offered in different sizes.
