More Bubble Probe than Ripple Plug but still enjoyable
Comfortable and flexible. Recommended for those who want safe, beaded probing but not for those who seek prostate stimulation or a plug that will stay well in place.
Published:
Pros
Soft silicone, bendable and flexible with gentle girth increase, safe flared base.
Cons
Really more of a probe than a plug.
Packaging:
The packaging of the Large Tantus Ripple Butt Plug is Tantus’ usual style of packaging, a clear plastic box which is free of any sexual imagery. On the back and sides of the packaging you will find plenty of information about the silicone used in Tantus toys. It arrived in what I know as the slightly smaller size of Tantus box, fitting nicely in it with no excess packaging. As the clear plastic box is so transparent, it gives the advantage of being able to see the toy from every angle while it still sits in the packaging.
First Impression:
Measuring over seven inches long and featuring four bumpy beads which increase in girth, I was impressed with the flexibility of the Large Ripple. Upon squeezing the silicone; it was obvious that a softer silicone is used when compared with other Tantus toys in my collection. Feeling the finish of the Ripple, it has a shiny appearance and smooth feel which should make it work well with lube and create less friction during use.
Available in either black or midnight purple, the black option which I chose is jet black with a shiny finish and almost rubbery appearance. Interestingly it is actually rubbery to the touch too. Already owning a similarly rubbery feeling toy from Tantus (the Scout Dildo) we weren’t too surprised by the rubber-like feel. Similar to when we both felt the Scout dildo for the first time, we thought the this rubber like look gave it a nice ‘rubber fetish’ feel though the Midnight Purple option obviously wouldn’t share this look.
Playing with the Ripple in my hands I could feel a generous amount of flexibility and bend between each bead and when squeezing the beads they have a considerable amount of ‘give’ too.
Measurements:
Total length: 7 1/2 Inches
Insertable Length: 6 Inches
Circumference: 2 3/4 to 4 3/4 Inches
Base Diameter: 2 3/4 Inches
In Use/ Experience:
Despite its shiny appearance, the Ripple does have the ‘drag’ that is typical of Silicone toys so I found it does need a generous amount of water based lube before getting started. Using the Ripple vaginally for the first time, its smaller, soft silicone beads are gentle and comparable to a finger in thickness. With the generous amount of flexibility in the Ripples build it bends to fit the curves of your body easily and each bead increases in girth so gently that at first this thickening can hardly be felt. Reaching the final bead, it feels noticeably larger and almost creates a knot which has a plugging effect even when used vaginally.
When using the Ripple anally I found it equally comfortable, again a generous amount of lubrication is needed beforehand but once applied it lasts well and the finish of the Ripples silicone works well with water based lubricant in particular. The ripples ability to easily bend with your body is a real plus when inserting the first three beads. Again the increase between the first, second and third beads feels gentle and I found that only the final bead felt significantly larger.
The final beads gentle shape and soft silicone makes for surprisingly comfortable insertion even when challenging your length limits anally. Once fully inserted, the Ripple has six inches of beads which you can feel warming to body temperature and moulding to your body shape.
The neck of the Ripple feels relatively girthy for a toys neck and once fully inserted the Ripple can still easily be thrusted as the girth difference between the final bead and neck isn’t enough to really make this a plug. Looking at the design and feeling it in use I consider the Ripple to be more of an anal probe than plug. Left inserted for longer periods of time it feels comfortable and surprisingly undetectable at times. Some more experiences anal players may actually find themselves wishing that Tantus made an extra-large version of this as even the large is quite gentle and unintimidating in use.
Apart from the need for a thinner neck to make this a plug, We really can’t find much wrong with the Ripple. Its wide base makes it safe as an anal toy and it is soft, easy to grip and doesn’t hurt your hands.

Experience
Overall the Ripple is comfortable and gentle with a wide base for safe anal play, it bends with the body to match your curves and can easily be sterilised after use. Some may want more girth from what is meant to be the large version of this toy but with up to six inches of insertable length I found it had more than enough length to satisfy when used either vaginally or anally. When used by my partner he couldn’t report any real prostate stimulation as it is simple too thin at the top and so flexible that it doesn’t apply pressure.
While the base of the Ripple is flared and safe, easy to grip and compatible with O-ring harnesses; it doesn’t make for comfortable sitting.
Care:
Made of high-quality Silicone, the Tantus Ripple is both Latex and Phthalates free, Silicone is completely non-porous meaning that it can be fully disinfected by boiling it for 3 minutes or by throwing it into the top rack of your dishwasher or it can be simply washed after use with warm soapy water or specialized toy cleaner, it is generally believed that silicone based lubricants should not be used with silicone toys. I would recommend using a generous amount of water-based lubricant with the Ripple.
