Pros
well-rounded vibration selections, fun design, nice size, good material
Cons
Motor is not waterproof, packaging is not built to last
I chose the Nexus G-rider to be my first silicone toy. I was looking for a reasonably-sized vibe and was also interested in a plug, so this toy seemed to fit the bill on every level. I know I prefer toys that aren't overly realistic, so I thought I'd try this artistic-looking piece for that reason as well. As always, I was also looking for a material that was safe and easy to care for, and silicone turned out to be a great choice for maintenance.
I really love this toy for p-spotting, but the G-rider could easily be used as a plug if you don't want any sort of vibrations for whatever reason. The toy has an interesting, quirky design that makes it as whimsical as it is pleasurable. I've had the pleasure of using this toy a few times since I have received it, and my best experiences have been in the bedroom after some stretching out beforehand. This silicone toy works wonderfully with my water-based lube, and the vibrations are of intermediate intensity. Certainly enough to really feel fantastic, but not enough as to be overwhelming. Truly a "happy medium".
The material of this toy is definitely worth noting. The silicone is of nice quality and feels velvety. It isn't slick on its own though, and can hold my water-based lube for a pretty long time. I've found that heating the toy under very warm water after briefly taking out the non-waterproof motor helps with a pleasing warm sensation. The G-rider has just the right amount of give to it. It manages to have a breathtaking balance between being firm enough to penetrate and plush enough to not cause any discomfort if you're properly prepared. You can easily keep a grip around just the base for insertion; you don't need to worry about the shaft bending out of control. The toy is rather firm (not "squishy" when squeezed), and with the motor in it will not bend very far at all. With the motor out, the base of the shaft gets wobbly. So for stability's sake, even if you don't plan on using vibes for your play session, keep the motor inserted.
As far as material goes: after using this beauty, I would recommend silicone to anyone from the most novice of users to more advanced users.
At first I was skeptical of what exactly one meant when describing simply the base of a toy as "amazing". But after experiencing the G-rider several times I must say I understand. The toy conforms very well the contours of the body when used anally, and the raised bumps on the one end of the base can massage the perineum a little as the vibrator is going. The half of the base (forward-facing) with the bumps measures about 1.75", and the smooth half of the base is a little less, about 1.4". The entire base is about 4.5", so decently long. The base is of a good enough size to stand on its own, so lowering yourself onto the toy is certainly not out of the question.
The base is a little long and a bit on the thicker side, so it may not be ideal for wearing out. While I was able to move around the house with it comfortably enough, I feel there are less conspicuous, more comfortable options for that type of use. If you're looking for something just for playtime and around the house use, the G-rider might be at the top of your toy drawer. The size is just about perfect for the intermediate anal user or adventurous novice. At its widest point, it is a little more than 1.5" in diameter and about 5" in circumference. The G-rider has 4" of insertable length, but it definitely makes them count. The neck of this toy is certainly the thinnest part of the shaft, but is still capable of holding the toy in place while not being too thin as to undermine structural stability.
The toy's design is wondrous in that is works awesomely as a p-spot stimulator while also being an effective plug. The design is also almost entirely seamless, with only a very slight seam visible throughout the nubs on one side of the base that does not affect performance in the least. The toy is not discreet at all in design, but the overall size makes this travel-friendly provided you are not necessarily trying to keep it hidden from anyone. The only critical point I can make is that I wish this toy came in multiple sizes for different types of users.
The G-Rider has performed well in almost every respect. The toy's shaft is long enough to leave you satisfied, the shaft's contours feel great, and the different vibration settings are intense and well-rounded. I'm personally inclined toward the solid vibration and roller-coaster settings, and found the pulse setting to be too much of a tease to handle for long. Personally, my p-spot is only about 2.5" into me, and not actually where the head of this toy ends up if fully inserted. Nevertheless, the vibrations are still strong enough that those with a shallower p-spot need not worry about this toy pleasing them; It will. Between all of the vibration settings available, this toy is sure to hit everyone's sweet spot.
My sole disappointment in the realm of performance is that the motor is not waterproofed, and leaves me feeling a bit wary at times. I also had a small issue with a couple wires getting in the way of the battery upon insertion, but it just needed a little extra push to get in there. I have not used the toy long enough to wear out the battery that came including in the packaging, and so far I have used the toy for over 2 hours. The vertically-inserting bullet has a very slight bend to its base where it forms a "T" shape to conform to the toy's base, and I don't believe it is swappable if you were desperate to get a fully waterproofed motor. Another thing to note is that the motor does not slide into the entire length of the toy's shaft, and as such I've found it the most powerful in its middle contour.
Taking care of this toy is not a hassle at all, and is par-for-the-course as far as silicone toys go. A thorough rinse in warm water and anti-bacterial soap should do the trick. If you want a more complete clean, taking out the motor and boiling the toy in water for a few minutes will ensure that you have a clean, disinfected toy ready to go for its next use. Since the toy is silicone, I would recommend storing it in a place where dust and other small particles do not gather. Regardless, giving it a quick warm rinse is always advisable for both a pleasurable experience and your health.
The battery is easy enough to remove and re-insert, but may need a little shake to jostle it out of its place. The motor takes one AAA battery, which is very easy to find and to me much more convenient than having to buy multiple watch batteries.
The Nexus G-Rider comes in lovely packaging that is unfortunately not built to last. I had hoped to keep the packaging for later storage or moving, but the way it is packaged would make this a hassle. The material is also frail and tears easily. If you don't plan on keeping the packaging, it is attractive and uncomplicated.
The user care/use instruction booklet that comes in the packaging is extremely helpful and comes in a variety of languages (look for 'GB' for Great Britain -- English). It offers cleaning tips and other advice such as warning against using a silicone-based lubricant. If you are new to silicone or vibrating toys (or toys in general), I highly recommend giving this fold-out booklet a browse.
I may have a softer bottom than some, but I've found that moving in a slight rocking motion while sitting down feels pretty amazing. You can wear the toy around, but with the base as long and thick as it is you had better hope no one touches your butt. Experiment with pressing a hand or a foot against the base of the toy for a change in vibrations, see what feels best for you!
I have found this toy most enjoyable while on the bed on my back, and alternately after lowering myself onto the toy in the bedroom. This toy is definitely wide enough for me to advise some pre-insertion stretching with either a slender toy or a couple fingers. I also found that turning on the vibes only after the toy had been fully inserted works out best for me. Personally, the vibrations distract me a bit when I should be focusing mostly on staying relaxed and just enjoying taking it slow.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it13 months after original review
The G-rider has proved to be a reliable and pleasurable addition to my toy box. I always enjoy using this toy, and I’ll wear this massager around the house whenever I get the chance. The only downside of this toy is particular to my situation: I’m currently living with several other people, and the vibrations of this toy could probably be heard by others through my thin walls. The G-rider certainly isn’t the most low-key toy around, but its strong and varied vibration patterns more than make up for it. I still love the firm silicone construction of this toy, as well as its unique shape that stimulates my sweet spot perfectly. All in all, I am delighted with my purchase of the G-rider and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a prostate massager with a little extra oomph.
