Kegels for Your Butt
The Aneros Peridise is intended to improve the muscle quality of the anal cavity, like a kegel exerciser for your butt. It's made of silky smooth hard plastic and comes in two different sizes for graduated exercise.

Pros
Small and manageable, smooth plastic, great for improving muscle tone
Cons
Not made of a sterilizable material
I am an anal newbie. I don't have much experience with anal play or toys, so I wanted an introduction that was simple, easy, fun, and unintimidating. The Aneros Peridise is all of these things and was an excellent introduction to anal toys.
The premise of the Aneros Peridise is simple: you insert one of the slender toy into your butt, beginning with the larger one and then moving, as you become comfortable, to the smaller one. The Peridise sits safely in the anus (the wide base prevents it from slipping inside) and it stimulates the muscles around and inside the anus. Your butt moves the Peridise around on its own, flexing its muscles and working them. After using the set for a while, muscle tone is supposed to improve, making other anal play easier and more enjoyable.
The Peridise is made of hard plastic. It's a pearly white color, and the plastic has been polished so it's completely smooth, so it's completely comfortable, even if it's firm and unyielding. Both items in the set are skinny with graduated bloops and a flared base. The larger of the two is 7/8 of an inch in diameter at its widest point, while the smaller of the two is 5/8 of an inch in diameter. They're both about 4 inches long in total. The smaller one is about the width of a finger, the larger one a little wider, so they're perfect for beginners like me. There's not a lot to dislike about the Peridise. The only downside I can see with these little exercisers is that they're not sterilizable, since it's always good to be able to sterilize anal toys. But hard plastic is the next best thing, since it's still body-safe. The only other problem is that the flared base can be a little pokey if you sit on it.
The Peridise is pretty easy to care for: you just wash it with soap and water or toy cleaner. Since it's made of plastic, it cannot be sterilized, so you don't want to share it, and you want to wash it well after each use. They come packaged in plastic clamshell packaging, but the kind that pulls apart, not the kind that's impossible to open. You can use any type of lube you want with the Peridise.
I really enjoy using the Peridise, aside from any muscle-toning benefits that it might offer. The bloops make for really interesting sensations. I think it's a perfect choice for anal beginners or people who are looking to exercise the muscles to prevent any problems and improve enjoyment of anal play.
