Just the Right Size

The Crystal Cote is a small butt plug designed for extremely amateur anal play. It is very easy to use and designed to be cute and not intimidating. It slips out very easily, which can be handy for beginners; but if too much lubricant is used, it may slip out too easily, especially during sex.

Use

The first thing most people will notice about this plug is that it is very small. With only three and a half inches of insertable length and a one inch diameter, anyone with experience using plugs is sure to scoff at this tiny thing.

The plug isn't aimed toward those with experience using plugs or with anal in general. Instead it's focused toward amateurs, specifically those who are looking for their first plug. Anal play can be very scary, especially if your significant other is large and putting pressure on it.

The Crystal Cote lets those curious with, or willing to try, anal have a very easy first experience to get use to the idea. With the insertable dimensions of this plug, only the tiniest of men would be comparable, and even in that case, new territory is often best explored alone first.

The Crystal Cote doesn't really have any other use at all, and can be very difficult to use in situations other than just getting used to anal. The difference in size between the diameter of the plug and the neck causes the plug to come out very easily. While this helps in its function as a beginner plug (nothing scares someone off faster than not being able to get it out the first try), it does mean that the toy doesn't like to stay in during other activities, like wearing it during intercourse.

This is even more pronounced if more lube is used than needed, as the first time those muscle clinch, this plug will shoot out like a tank round if it's too slick. If being used during sex, it's best if someone holds it in. I've found that doggie style is the best position for this as it gives perfect access to the partner for holding the base.

On another note, if your partner is particularly large, you'll probably want to use another plug as a stepping stone between this one and your partner. This will help you become more comfortable with a larger size and keep your anus from getting hurt. It can also help deal with some of the general anxiety of going from three and a half inches long, one inch wide to double that in length and girth. Always remember, everything is better when you're comfortable with it. Take things slow if you need to.

Material / Texture

The Silicone Crystal Cote butt plug is made from TPR Silicone. It's got no real smell or taste that I noticed. It's a very smooth plug with no noticeable seams on the insertable portion. The material is firm but flexible and has a give to it that prevents it from hurting if prodded with it.

TPR Silicone does have a couple of safety issues that beginning users need to be aware of. Toys made from this material should be cleaned both before and after each use. This is generally a good guideline for toys in general, doubly so for anal toys, and is a good habit to get into all around. For cleaning, use warm water and an antibacterial cleaner or a mild soap. Make sure it's squeaky clean before playing with it.

The second safety concern everyone should be aware of is that TPR Silicone, and all silicone toys in general, should never be used with a silicone-based lubricant. TPR Silicone is designed to be used with water-based lubricants. It's important to make sure that you use a lubricant that is compatible with your toy/s in order to not degrade your toys or cause harm to yourself. Many anal lubricants are silicone-based, so always double check before you use a new lubricant with your silicone toys.

Design / Shape / Size

The Crystal Cote is four inches long with a three and a half inch insertable length. The plug has a one inch diameter at it's widest point. The neck of the plug is seven eighths of inch wide and is immediately followed by a very large flared base.

The toy is small and very easy to travel with. I don't recommend traveling with it in, as it comes out very easily due to the small difference between the neck size and overall plug size. It is a very good size for beginners, especially those that are intimidated with anal in general, but is far too small for anyone already craving an anal experience.

Between the size, material, and shape, this plug is very amateur friendly. It is extremely hard to hurt yourself with this plug.

Performance

The best feature of this toy is pretty much its sole reason for existing. It's small enough that it can't really be intimidating to anyone. It's easy to get in, and easy to get out. In some cases, it's really too easy to get out, but most of those cases are more advanced than the "first time" audience that this plug is intended for. Honestly, I think this toy is absolutely wonderful if bought and used by its intended audience: first time anal experimenters.

Care and Maintenance

Maintenance is pretty easy. Find somewhere clean and discreet to store it, clean it before and after each use, and make sure to use a compatible lubricant. Anal play can get messy, so I recommend having plenty of cleaner on hand. Always make sure to clean it carefully and thoroughly. Any antibacterial cleaner or mild soap will work for cleaning, and rinse it in warm water. Make sure not to store it in a location with lots of fibers, such as a fur lined box or next to a feather duster, because the TPR Silicone likes to pick up fibers and it can be a pain to clean them off.

Do you think that the material makes any difference in how well it stays in place, or is it all based on the shape? Thanks for the review.

I think the slipping is solely due to the design. The difference between neck diameter and plug diameter is only an eighth of an inch (.125). I think just about any material would slip at that point, especially during an orgasm or sex. 7/8" is pretty common for neck diameter, but most plugs have a larger base diameter for more difference.
