Doc Johnson’s The Groove is a fun butt plug/anal beads hybrid. As always, Doc Johnson’s silicone rocks! It’s super comfy and feels great. I love its smaller base and bulges. I’d definitely recommend this toy for anal intermediate players. I only say intermediate because I think beginners should first explore a normal butt plug before advancing to bulges. Out of the three recent plugs I have received, it has to be my favorite. I also ordered Doc’s Bid End, and The Dipper. So far, I have fallen in love with Doc Johnson’s butt products. Plus, they are all made in the USA! How cool!

I love Doc Johnson’s silicone. It’s soft, plushy, and super flexible. Plus, it’s just plain beautiful. On the bottom of each of their butt plug products, you can see the swirl of colors. I purchased the blue version so my base has a swirl of silver and blue.



Silicone is my favorite butt material. It rates a ten out of ten on Eden Fantasy’s Safety Scale. It is non-porous and hypoallergenic. This means it can be sterilized and therefore shared between partners. To find out how, simply read my care and maintenance section.



As I mentioned, Doc’s silicone is super bendy and flexible. Sometimes, that can be a detriment. The top of the toy is a little floppy. If you hold it, the top can wiggle. When you put lube on this toy at first, it can be hard to insert since it wiggles around. Once you get it in, there are no issues. Here is the top being bended.



Unfortunately, silicone does intend to attract lint and hair. It isn’t so bad when you store it properly. There is never much drag to it, but always use some lubricant when attempting anal play. I found no seams on this piece. Thankfully, it has no smell. The silicone is silky smooth to the touch with bulges to create a nice textured feeling without being overwhelming. However, if you are sensitive to texture this may too much for you.

The Groove is technically an anal probe. However, it is a mix between a butt plug and anal beads. It is designed similarly to anal beads in that the bulges start out small and increase as you further insert it. It has a flat flared base like a butt plug. I absolutely LOVE the size of this base. It’s not too big or too small. It fits comfortably in my fat butt. Huge bases made me feel uncomfortable. The Doc Johnson logo is on the bottom.



The Groove is a total of 7 inches long with an insertable length of 6”. It has a circumference of 4 ¾” and a diameter of 1 ½”. It is average in size. I would suggest it to intermediate players. Beginners could surely insert the top portion, but maybe not the bottom portion. There are five total bulges increasing in size.

You could certainly travel with the probe if you wanted to.

As I mentioned, being an anal bead/butt plug hybrid means there’s lots of ways you can use this toy. You can use it as a probe, slowly inserting it in and out to create that great popping effect that anal beads give you. This could certainly warm your butt up for a bigger toy. You could also just insert this toy and let it sit as a butt plug. It does stay in well during masturbation, but if you walk around it will probably slip out. I usually will wear it around the house with clothes on so it doesn’t totally fall out. I usually like to sit and browse EF when I’m wearing plugs that I like, but tend to fall out.

The Groove is waterproof, so take it in the tub for extra fun playtime!

Silicone is really easy to care for. You can simply wash it in warm water and soap. If you wish to sterilize it, simply boil it for a few minutes. You can also place it in the top rack of your dishwasher. If you are going to share it with a partner, make sure you sterilize it between uses. Also, if you decide to insert this vaginally be sure to clean it beforehand.

Since this is silicone, stay away from silicone lubricants. It could ruin the material. I like to use a water-based lubricant.

The Groove was placed in a pretty clear plastic package. There isn’t a ton of information, but is suitable for use. I really like the back of the package. The colors on the back panel of the package are really pretty and blend together.

I love how versatile The Groove is. I love using it as a butt plug. It feels great when inserted. It does stay in, but after a little bit of activity it will fall out. I also like using it like anal beads. I inserted it and then moved it in and out to get that nice popping sensation. It also worked well getting me warmed up for bigger toys like the Big End.
