Golden Girl

Thank you for being a friend, Gold-Laced G. Yes, I mean it: let's just be friends. Your texture just doesn't work with my body. Plenty of other people love texture and seriously narrow and firm dildos! You have a lot going for you: you're beautiful, solidly constructed, and your heart is true. You're a pal, and a confidante.

Use

This gorgeous glass laced dildo, the Gold-laced G, is a narrow textured piece by SSA Glass. Like all SSA pieces, this dildo is made of pleasantly weighty and high-quality borosilicate glass. This makes the Gold-laced G completely sterilizable and body-safe, safe for those with allergies, and non-toxic! The small base makes this toy perfect for vaginal or anal play, but not harness compatible. This material has no give at all, so take great care with the Gold-laced G to avoid bruising your cervix.

Glass is fantastic for temperature play. Just warm up or cool down in some warm or cool water. (Frostbite and burns are real possibilities, so be careful!) You can also warm up your Gold-Laced G by placing it under the sheets, or refrigerate it for a few minutes!

Here's a size comparison between (l-r) the Mood Naughty medium, the We-Vibe Touch, the Smile Treat, and the Gold-Laced G. You can see here that the Gold-Laced G is a seriously narrow dildo that even makes my pinpoint clitoral vibrator look girthy.

Material / Texture

This dildo is made of 100% borosilicate glass.

What is borosilicate glass?

Have you ever used Pyrex cookware? This is made of the same smooth tempered glass. Glass is the safest possible material for a sex toy. It's 100% sterilizable (check out the "care" section to find out how!) Glass is the perfect material for anyone with allergies or sensitivities, as it is totally hypoallergenic. Glass is non-porous, and so doesn't hold microbes, and can easily be disinfected and shared between partners.

Glass is 100% body-safe and non-toxic. No leaching chemicals, no pthalates, no endocrine disruptors, no bad rubber smell, no carcinogens; it's a totally safe material! On Edenfantasys' materials safety scale, glass ranks a ten out of ten; it couldn't possibly be safer!

The material is extremely firm and has absolutely no give at all. It is so firm that you must take caution with firm thrusting, so as not to bruise you anally or vaginally.

Are you worried about the safety of glass? If you're imagining it shattering inside of you, know that this type of glass does not shatter, but rather breaks cleanly in two. Put your mind at rest by watching ToyTimeTim test glass against the dangers of dropping and temperature changes. My experience confirms that this kind of glass tends to hold up extremely well to bumps, drops, and accidents.

What is the texture like?

This toy is laced with a thin strand of glass. This is raised above the surface of the dildo, and therefore creates a sensation similar to a ribbed texture, but much more intense. This sort of veining or lacing tends to require a bit more care to clean, and the Gold-laced G is no different. If not cleaned immediately, you may need a toothbrush to get the lacing completely clean. When used internally, the texture is definitely noticeable, and much thicker than the ribbing on the Mr. Twister. These are no giant lumps or ridges, though, and not a very heavy texture.

The dildo itself is very narrow, but the lacing makes it feel much girthier. As a result, I would recommend this toy to intermediate users. If you are sensitive to texture, this toy is not for you. If you love very intense texture like huge bumps, though, this will seem mild to you.

There is no drag whatsoever to borosilicate glass, but the texture may require a bit of lube.

Texture is a strange beast. A person may love ribbed dildos, but not lacing, or bumps but not swirls. This texture feels very different from other textures. Keep that in mind! This toy is great for texture lovers trying to figure out what they like. It's an intermediate texture, so if you love small ribbing, level up to this lacing before you go for a heavily textured toy.

Design / Shape / Size

The Gold-laced G is a translucent dildo with a golden yellow raised line wrapped around the base of the head and latticed around the shaft.

The design of this dildo is penis-shaped, with small, flat "balls" and a very mild curve. When I say very mild, I mean really super mega-mild. You'd think that a product called Gold-laced G would hit a G-spot, right? Sadly, it doesn't hit mine unless I do some contortion to get it there. The curve is just not pronounced enough for my body.

The size is fantastic for beginners. This is one of the least girthy glass dildos available, making it great for beginners. Average users may find this girth does not fill them up. This will not work at all for those who prefer a royal sized toy. According to Sammi's descriptive review, "At 6 1/4" long and 5 3/4" insertable... The base of this toy is 2 1/4" long by 1 1/2" wide... Length: 6 3/4", Insertable length: 6", Circumference: 3 1/2", Diameter: 1", Weight: 9.7 oz"

This toy is artistically realistic. It is not the least discreet dildo, but it's my most realistic glass dildo by far. You won't be able to convince someone it's a massage aid or a statuette; it may be translucent, but it has balls. If you keep your Gold-laced G wrapped up well or transport it in a padded sleeve or pouch, it should be suitable for travel.

Performance

This texture is definitely noticeable during use. Chicmichiw calls the texture "scratchy," and I think that's the only word that describes the sensation. It's just too scratchy on my G-spot to apply the pressure it requires.

In order to get it to hit my G-spot, I have to undergo a series of contortions and many positions that won't work for those with wrist problems or other limited mobility. It is possible for someone with limited mobility to use this dildo since it is so long, but it isn't my top choice.

If you are new to glass and prefer narrow dildos, I would recommend the Amethyst over the Gold-laced G. Even though it is just barely larger, it doesn't have this texture, which many people may not like.

If you require girthy, squishy, dramatic G-spot curve, discreet, or smooth texture, look elsewhere.

The base does not extend around the entire dildo. Rather, it sticks out to one side. This provides the illusion of small balls. This is not functional as a base and is not harness-compatible. Since I like dildos for G-spotting on myself, the base does not function as a handle and instead hangs ineffective and pointless during use. The handle's positioning is much more sensible for anal penetration; in this position, it can be gripped.

Care and Maintenance

With regards to care and maintainance, glass is the single most phenomenal material for a sex toy.

If you only use the Gold-Laced G vaginally and don't intend to share with another person, washing this with soap and warm water after every use is all the cleaning you'll need! Glass is completely waterproof. No moving parts here - one solid hunk of glass means cleaning cannot be simpler. You can also use toy wipes or toy cleaner. Some people even put glass dildos in their dishwasher. While it may go without saying, you should leave dishes out of that cycle. Stick with a sex-toy-only cycle if you're foraying into the wild world of dishwashing dildos.

If you want to sterilize it completely, this can be accomplished in a number of ways. You can boil the whole dildo. A few minutes is all you need - it's not a potato. You can also wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution. Sterlilizing is necessary for sharing a glass dildo between partners. It's also a good idea to sanitize after using anally and before using vaginally again. Finally, you may want to sterilize after a yeast infection or bacterial infection to avoid passing it back to yourself.

Glass is not finicky about lube - use your favorite, with no worry about it harming the longevity of your Gold-laced G!

Storage options are practically infinite. This kind of glass - borosilicate - is seriously tough. It won't dent in storage unless you rest a refrigerator on it. Store this dildo however it's convenient for you, and it will probably work for the Gold-Laced G.

This hunk of glass is dreamy to maintain. Just wash with soap and water!

Packaging

The packaging was identical to all SSA Glass products. It arrived in an extremely thin red velvet bag with a fastener that must be altered in order to be functional. This bag offers zero padding whatsoever. The velvet feels soft to the touch, but I'd consider something this thin to require supplementation. This is a great use for single socks - just tuck it inside the velvet pouch. You can also make your own pouch out of an old sweater! There is no box, which I prefer - it's environmentally conscious.

The fastener is a black drawstring. The string can be knotted, but simply pulling the string will not keep your dildo from falling out. There is no toggle to keep it shut.

Personal comments

Everyone says it's too narrow to be used vaginally. I find 1 1/4" dildos are sometimes a little girthy for me if I'm not warmed up, so I thought this would be great. Sad news: the texture makes it feel girthier than it is. It feels slightly girthier than the Amethyst, although the Amethyst is larger and smooth.

Experience

When I want an earth-shattering G-spot orgasm, I reach for my Amethyst. When I want a penis-shaped, realistic dildo experience, I grab my Spur. When I want texture, I go for my Mr. Twister. The Gold-Laced G just doesn't cut it for me. I think it could really work for a narrow-dildo-loving, texture-loving person. This dildo taught me that, while I do like texture, I am picky about it, and certain kinds of texture just don't work for me.

Great for textured firm thrusting? Yes! Great for G-spotting? No!

Fantastic review! I recently realized that this pretty toy had a small girth, and put it on my wishlist...but you have now saved me the trouble of finding out for myself that it won't work for me. Thank you, thank you!

What a thorough review, thanks! I found this too much texture for me, but I sure was glad for the thinness once I realized what the texture felt like.

Thanks, Wicked Wahine! I do like texture, but not this kind of lacing. The ribbed glass toys are where it's at for me!
