Fun In Spades
Doc Johnson's Sexy Spades Small glass plug is both well-designed and inexpensive, a great combination. It's 1-1/2" diameter makes it a good choice for anyone with a bit of anal play experience or a lot, and the long neck and glass construction means it feels great and is durable and safe.

Pros
Midsize, glass construction, secure, comfortable.
Cons
Round base can be uncomfortable after a while.
I've already reviewed this plug's big brother (the Sexy Spades Large), and so I was excited to have a chance to review the Doc Johnson's Sexy Spades Small plug. I'm glad that I did – the Sexy Spades Small has all of the advantages of it's bigger sibling in a smaller size.
Most people think of a “small” butt plug as being in the one-inch range. The Sexy Spades family of butt plugs suffers a bit from size inflation. Most people would call the Sexy Spades Small (at 1-1/2” in diameter) a “medium” plug, especially given the rapid taper (0-1.5” in about an inch). You'll probably want a bit of experience with anal play before tackling the Sexy Spades Small, but this plug is well worth any effort it takes to get it inserted.
Glass is a great material for sex toys. It's smooth, so lubricants are very effective. It's absolutely inert, so there are no chemicals that your body can react to. Glass is hard and holds heat (or cold) well, so you can tell it's there. And finally, when play is over, glass is easy to clean and sterilize, so you don't have to worry about catching anything. You can run this plug through the dishwasher or wash it by hand, and if you want to make sure it's sterile you can boil it or soak it in a 10% bleach solution for a few minutes.
The colored body of the plug is held on a 1-1/4” long, 1” diameter clear glass neck. The transition is smooth and tapered, making insertion and removal very comfortable. The long neck makes wearing the plug very comfortable and secure. Once in, I didn't have to give a thought to the Sexy Spades Small. It made itself right at home inside me, and set about making me very glad I had invited it over to play. It stayed put, but in a very easygoing manner. I had no problems with the Sexy Spades Small plug popping out unexpectedly, even when I squatted and coughed (my “torture test” to see if plugs stay in during very adverse circumstances).
If you're a fan of looking inside your partner (or yourself if you have a mirror), you'll be happy to know that you can do it with the Sexy Spades Small. While the sunset colors of the body do block some of the view, there's enough of a clear core to get a bit of a view of your or your partner's inside.
The big downside to the Sexy Spades family (and most glass toys) is the bases. Round bases work OK for most short-term wear, but if you're planning on wearing the Sexy Spades Small for several hours while sitting down it could get a bit uncomfortable. I had no problem with the base for short periods of sitting, or longer periods of wear provided that I was standing up.
As a user of larger plugs, I was wondering how stimulating the Sexy Spades Small would be. Once I popped it in I realized that I shouldn't have worried. It was plenty stimulating. For guys, the body of the plug rests right near the prostate, and the glass wiggles around while you wear it to make sure things stay fun. You aren't left out of the fun if you don't have a P-spot, either, since the Sexy Spades Small can find plenty of other nerves to play with up there.

Experience
Unfortunately this was the first toy I received that had a problem (crack in the body). You could tell that Doc Johnson's glass is safe, though - the crack was very small and did not cause the plug to shatter (I looked at the crack for a few days and compared appearances to make sure that it wasn't spreading). Having seen how the Sexy Spades Small plug reacted when it had a defect, I have no concerns about them breaking or shattering during use.
I have no concerns about buying from Eden, either. Exchanging the plug was a no-hassles, straightforward process (they even pay shipping back!) - even though I had already destroyed the original invoice that came with my toy (a lesson to look carefully before tossing packaging. I'm glad I finally checked before using the plug!). A few clicks of the mouse and 5 minutes boxing the toy back up, and it was winging it's way back for replacement - no questions asked.
