Crystal Cote-d Honey Probe
Small, slim and unintimidating this toy is perfect for anal beginners both male and female bodied! While it won't stay put easily or be satisfying forever it is a great toy to begin learning to relax and enjoy the sensations. It's a great price and has rather good quality materials. All in all it's definitely worth a try!

Pros
Slim and forgiving, easy to clean, good quality materials
Cons
Needs to be held in, most users will out grow it quickly
For anal beginners you can't really beat the Silicone Crystal Cote Butt Plug by Cal Exotics. Slim and stylish looking it was a great introduction for this scared anal beginner. I had never experienced anal play as anything other than 'grit my teeth and get it over with' until we tried this little guy. The Crystal Cote allowed me to be gently probed and the nerves to be smoothly stimulated without causing that gut turning nerve pain that a finger jammed inside did.
The Crystal Cote Plug is 4 inches in total length with 3.5 inches being insertable. The probe portion tapers to a very small point before flaring out gently. At it's largest portion it only flares out to 3 inches in circumference which is actually very small and thin. The 'neck' of the toy just above the base is actually too short to allow the anal ring to fully grab hold so the toy will probably shoot out of place at the moment you least want it to, but for anal training it's perfectly ok.
The toy is made of TPR silicone which means it's porous, this isn't a toy you should feel comfortable sharing without a small toy condom or something similar. It has a colored center that is covered with a squishy, clear TPR coating that forms the bulk of the probe. The coating completely covers the toy so the base is also flexible and soft. It is also able to stick to a slick surface such as a ceramic bathroom tub, sink or a table top. Simply wet the base slightly and press it down on the surface you wish. It won't form a terrible amount of suction so it won't stick to a shower wall, for instance, but it's great for hands free positioning.
The probe is firm enough to be easy to use solo or with a partner but not so hard that inexperienced users or partners will cause pain. Washing the toy can be a bit problematic given the area the toy is meant to be used in. I have boiled mine without any horrible deterioration or melting but it's generally not recommended. I have noticed a bit of clouding in the clear portion of the probe and it has been suggested that this is caused by boiling the toy, so you have fair warning! Hot water and mild soap or a commercial toy cleaner is the recommended cleaning method but you could also spray with a 10% bleach and water solution.
For anal play lube is always recommended and the wonderful thing about TPR silicone is you can use any form of lube you prefer for anal play. Personally, I like System Jo H2O but you could use a silicone lube if you prefer, or even an oil based one! With lube this plug gets SUPER slippery and it has been known to slide out on it's own during play.
The base of the toy is perfectly adequate to keep the plug from disappearing on you, which is always a good thing. The base of the plug is round which makes it fairly uncomfortable for long term wear and for sitting on. It just doesn't fit between the butt cheeks very comfortably! It will fit a harness but then you won't get much in terms of useable probe if you use one, still if you are seriously worried about disappearing toys...
The toy is completely unsuitable for vaginal use as it's too small and thin to reach darn near anything! It is, however, great for guys who are thinking about trying prostate stimulation but have never tried anal play. The probe is only just slightly larger than an index finger but smaller than two fingers in width. It doesn't provide much in terms of prostate massage due to it's length, lack of girth and lack of curve but it does help the area relax in preparation for larger more P spot orientated toys.
One thing that we have found very enjoyable is to insert the plug slowly and then apply a rather vigorous and powerful vibrator to the base, incredible!
Remember to take all anal play slow and build on success. This little plug is a great start and can be a great warm up toy for more advanced users.
The packaging for this little baby is simple and minimal. The plastic sleeve is barely larger than the toy itself and the paper insert is decorated with a beautiful woman and her rather lovely backside. Not very discreet but then no one is really gonna wonder what the toy is used for if they see it laying around! It can be an adequate storage box and to make it a bit more discreet you could remove the paper insert.

Follow-up commentary
18 months after original review
Though I have moved on to more hygienic materials I still like this little guy as a warm up. I have replaced him since the review was first published bcause I noticed some clouding and pitting of the crystal cote material and it's always better to be safe than sorry. The pitting was from kitten teeth and not a flaw in the design or materials of the toy. I suspect the clouding was also from the chewing it got!
Still as a warm up for my still unconvinced butt this toy seems to hit on all cylinders.

Thank you for viewing Silicone crystal cote butt plug – butt plug discontinued review page!
Wonderful review Arien, as usual.
Believe it or not, I'm still using this after having it for years! I can take My Man, but I prefer smaller toys, for whatever reason. I never had any problem with it staying in.
I'm glad you like this one. I hated it when we first got it and we tried it long after and I liked it.
Good review.
