A Magical Delight

You can't beat the affordability of glass and this dildo is a terrific way to experiment with texture using a safe, easy to clean, beautiful dildo. This can be used with either end, vaginally or anally (but see warning in the review) and even for body massage. The sensation of these graduated bumps is really fantastic and not at all overwhelming to me as I expected. Give it a try and introduce yourself to a new sensation!

Use

The Magic Scepter is perfect for penetration when extra sensation is desired, either vaginally or anally. Many people enjoy using toys such as anal beads because of the popping feeling and this dildo would definitely be great for that. And with the Magic Scepter you have the added benefit of being able to feel that sensation going in and out, repeatedly! However, I would imagine the sensations might be intense and more suited for the more experienced anal enthusiast. While the toy might be long enough and have sufficient, indentations to prevent it from being lost in your rectum, I would advise the use of a flared ring attachment to make it more anally safe (you can use these vibrator enhancers to provide a flared base to almost any cylindrical toy). If you try it without a flared base addition, just know that glass is very slippery when lubed up and the indentations after each bubble may not be enough to prevent the toy from getting sucked completely inside you. To help with gripping slippery glass, I recommend keeping a cloth nearby to aid your grip of whichever end is acting as the base.

Material / Texture

I think glass is ideal for all experience levels and since it is relatively inexpensive, it makes it an ideal material for experimenting with different sizes and shapes of toys. The Magic Scepter in particular is a great way to try a different texture while having the benefit of using either end for a difference in size. Not to mention just how beautiful the emerald green color and design look, simply from an aesthetic standpoint. It feels so lovely in the hands and on, or in, the body.

Please do not worry about using glass if you never have. First of all, it's a 10 of 10 rating on the Eden Fantasys material safety scale which means it's completely safe and nonporous. It's therefore a breeze to clean and is fully sanitizable. So go ahead and share it, or use it between orifices, provided you clean it in between, of course. Secondly, this is not any old glass, it's borosilicate glass, the same type used for cookware, scientific glassware and windows because of its enhanced strength and resistance to breaking from changes in temperature. Lest you still have doubts about how sturdy it is, take a look at these videos member ToyTimeTim made: Glass Test #1 and Glass Test #2 If those video tests don't put your mind to rest, nothing will!

Design / Shape / Size

This gorgeous, deep emerald colored wand is eight inches long and is comprised of nine spheres fused together and graduating in size from small to large. The tip is the smallest at 2 1/2" in circumference while the base is the largest at a circumference of 4 3/4". It has a solid feel, but is not too heavy like some stainless steel toys can be. This dildo is very smooth with no imperfections anywhere on the surface or internally in the glass. I think the large end is really easy to grip due to the size and even the smaller end is well controlled for gripping due to the ripples.

Performance

Because glass is so rigid, I have found it feels bigger than it actually is when inserted. I also have discovered that it pays to be more careful than you might normally be when playing with glass toys. I inadvertently bruised myself once without even knowing it! I found out the next day and never would wish that discomfort on anyone, so please beware vigorous thrusting, at least until you know better how glass works for you. That said, the easy grip provided by the indentations and the taper on this dildo makes it really easy to manipulate and control, even all slippery with lubricant! And speaking of lubricant, with glass you need only a little, plus you can use any type of lubricant you like!

Vaginally, I was actually taken by surprise at how lovely the bumps felt from these bubbles! I had previously tried a glass dildo with many nubby bumps all over it (the rainbow heart ) and found it too harsh for my tastes ( here's my review ). However, this wand was absolutely delightful! I love the feeling of the bump-bump-bump on insertion, along with the increasing girth. It can also be inserted from either end, depending on the feeling you are after. And even though the wand is straight, I had no trouble targeting my G-spot. I also found the bumps felt wonderful on my G-spot because they are so rounded and therefore no harsh edges irritated me.

As if that weren't enough, glass is superb for temperature play! I enjoyed the Magic Scepter both cold and warm. At room temperature, glass already has a cool feeling when inserted, but you can increase that by running cold water over the wand, or letting it chill in the fridge, in a bowl, or zip-top baggie of ice water. As a matter of fact, you can bring the ice water bath into the bedroom with you and re-chill as often as you like. The same is true of a warm water bath, or use a heating pad. Just remember, always test the toy on your body (for example on your inner wrist) before touching it to your sensitive places! You might also be surprised that this wand can feel pretty wonderful just as an all over body massage device. I particularly liked the large end for working into knotted muscles in my shoulders and back. And of course, adding heat or cold for massage is nice as well.
    • Comfortable

    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

One reason glass is such a great material for sex toys is that you can use any lubricant you like and only a very little is needed. Another benefit is the relative ease of cleaning and care. You can wash with soap and water, or the toy cleaner of your choice, just be careful to get into all the grooves where fluids collect. Since it's nonporous, you can fully sanitize it by boiling, using a 10% bleach solution (9 parts water to 1 part plain, household bleach), or running it through your dishwasher on the top rack without soap (dishwashing soap can etch the glass).

Storage is relatively simple as it is not a lint magnet like other materials, nor does it need to be protected from surfaces. It comes with a red drawstring pouch that does not provide cushioning, though it does prevent dust and scratches to the surface. I have never had a glass toy break, even when dropped, however, you may want to use something to provide more cushioning for storage such as a thick sock or use bubble wrap around it and then place it inside the pouch. Because the drawstring can open easily, I recommend you tie a knot in it to keep the toy inside.

Follow-up commentary
I completely forgot to include the other glass dildos similar to this one! If you want something with a bit of a curve to aid in G-spot targeting, try Sapphire Falls. There is also Bubbly which has just the same large sized bubbles and a nicely pointed tip for easier insertion. And finally, I would like to recommend the Emerald Explorer which has a handy loop at the base making handling a breeze as well as making it anal safe. Only Sapphire falls and the Magic Scepter are reversible and the latter is the only fully graduated one.

I still can't believe I enjoy the bumpy sensation as much as I do! I wish I had tried this style sooner and then I would not have been turned off texture by the Rainbow Heart which I could swear was damaging me - heck, I could not even insert it all the way, that's how painful it was to me!

The Magic Scepter, however is really easy on me and I am more open to trying some more textures now. I think because glass is so smooth and has no drag, I am able to enjoy textures better with it than I do with silicone or other materials. Even the coronal ridges on my VixSkin dildos are too much for me and feel like they're scraping me. I usually don't thrust my dildos for this reason. However, the smooth, rounded edges of the Magic Scepter are very comfortable and even thrusting feels good.

I never enjoyed that popping sensation many talk about from anal beads or a dildo with a big head on it. So I am surprised to like this toy so much and I think that may have to do with the lack of a suction being formed. Regardless, for the price, glass really is the perfect way to experiment with all variety of sizes and textures and I certainly will be looking for more to try! I hope some of you give them a try as well.

Thanks for the votes! This was supposed to be a DR, so that's why I didn't include my personal experience as I was told to keep it objective. However, I think because I was so late returning it, it just got included as a regular review. Anyway, I appreciate the votes, SYN and BlackOrchid, thank you!

excellent review. very detailed & an interesting read. the videos were interesting too. I love TTT's 1st glass tests video - had me smiling & even a laugh or two. hope to see another review soon.
  • Contributor: edeneve
just a thought, maybe a review can stand on it's own w/o having specifics about personal experience included. I'm just sayin'.
  • Contributor: edeneve
here's another thing, yes, you did provide personal experiences.
  • Contributor: Wicked Wahine
Thanks, Edeneve! I meant that I didn't fill out the separate section for personal experience. I didn't know if anyone was going to complain about that, so I wanted to explain why I didn't include it, that's all. I am glad people thought it was good as is because I personally think I gave enough info, or I should say I would have been satisfied as a reader looking to buy it. And by the way, I think TTT did a terrific job and answered what people were worried about in a definitive & humorous manner! I miss him and lots of other wonderful contributors. However, we do have some great newer people, so that's a relief.

Fantastic review! You should most certainly write more of them. I never had much interest in this toy, but but your description of the sensation made it seem interesting. I might have to give it a try!

@SYN, Aww, thanks for the compliment. I don't know why I seem to avoid writing reviews, but the encouragement is much appreciated!

    @ CTMY, thanks!

This is an absolutely amazing review - I am so happy to see that you've written something in the new year. It's almost enough to make me want to buy this!

Fabulous review! I love how you write and refer back to things.. I know that sounds weird, but I do. I feel like you're a friend telling me about a toy..like over coffee haha! Awesome review!
  • Contributor: Wicked Wahine
Wow, what a wonderful compliment, LoveReimagined! It takes more time to refer to other things, But I think it helps, so I'm glad to hear you agree. And I love that you think it sounds like we're friends having coffee while I tell you all about some new toy! That's a high compliment to me, thank you!! I don't want my reviews to be dry and boring, but I do want to get the facts in there. So hearing it's like I'm chatting with a friend is really nice to hear!!

I submitted a follow-up just a few days after submitting this review, but for some reason, it has never been published here. I can see what I wrote under my reviews page in my account, but it simply says "not published". I think I will copy and paste it below so at least anyone who wants to can see it. I'll put it in another comment as it's longer.
