This is a nice beginners glass dildo and a beautifully crafted one at that. Ideal for anal beginners or first time glass users that don't require large girth. It has a good amount of texture to be felt, but not enough to be overkill.

Pros
Beautiful, textured, good size for anal or tight vaginas, flared base.
Cons
May not be girthy enough or curved enough for some.
The gold laced G was my first toy I purchased on EF. I found out about it (and EF) while it was on sale at EF at the time, from a link on another site, but it wasn't til years later I joined the EF community (total oversight on my part at the time). It is a realistic, but artistic looking penis shaped glass dildo with gold lace texture on it. It is an ideal size for a beginner or for anal play. Being glass, it is perfect for temperature play, vaginal or anal penetration and even sharing with partners after sterilizing between uses.
This is an ideal introduction to glass for a novice or someone who has never tried glass. It works fine for females as well as males and it is a beautiful piece to look at too.
The material is borosciliate glass, otherwise known to us as Pyrex (Brand name). The glass is firm of course and fragile if dropped on a hard surface. The dildo is realistic looking, but in an artful way. The gold lace texture can be felt throughout the shaft, but is not "too much" texture in my opinion. It definitely adds to the stimulation without being overkill.
Being glass, this holds temperature well. Hot or cold depending on your preference, if you are into temperature play. Otherwise you can hold it in your hands til it warms up to body temperature as an alternative.
The dildo is just under 7 " long and 1" wide (3.5" circumference). It weighs in at a hefty 9.7oz and has a flared base, which is ideal for anal safety and could possibly even be used in a harness if you so choose. Since it does look like a penis, it may not be the most travel friendly toy. The base (or balls as they resemble) makes a great handle for thrusting with your partner or solo. It also instills confidence for deep anal penetration or not thrusting too deep to bruise a cervix. Being only 1" in diameter this is easy to insert for an anal or vaginal beginner without much resistance or pain and requires little lubrication. For those who require girth, this will probably not satisfy you.
While the Gold laced G does have some curvature to it, the curve is subtle and may/may not be enough direct G spot stimulation as the name implies. Certainly not like you will have the the Amethyst glass dildo.
Insertion with the Gold laced G vaginally was a breeze. No lubricant required, so long as the vagina is naturally lubricated already. It was very easy to locate the G spot. The bumps and curves were easy to feel upon insertion and gave nice pressure to the G spot. It worked well with simultaneous oral as well. This was the first glass toy both I and my Girlfriend had ever tried. It was good at first, but she definitely preferred the Amethyst, once we acquired that one later on. The curve just seemed to hit the right spot.
This was also the first glass toy I tried anally and it was a pleasant experience. I have since discovered some excellent P spot toys and prefer the kind that stay put, hands-free during thrusting, so I haven't really used the G in some time. The Toy was discontinued for a while, but since I saw it had been back in stock, I thought it was time I reviewed it. It seemed to be a highly popular item here at one time.
The Gold laced G is Pyrex Glass and non porous, so it is a 10 on the EF safety scale. It can be washed with soap and hot water, bleached in a 10% solution, boiled for 3 minutes, or you can just toss it into the dishwasher with no soap.
It is also Food-grade material / Hypo-allergenic / Latex free / Non-porous / Phthalates free, so you have no worries with safety. It can be heated or cooled for temperature play.
Just be careful not to drop glass toys onto a hard surface or you could scratch/break it.
I'd suggest storing with the included pouch (not padded FYI) to prevent any nicks or scratches if you have other glass toys
Because it is glass, you can safely use any type of lube you want on it.
The dildo arrived in just the pouch, with a small piece of bubble wrap around the glass inside the pouch itself. That came as a surprise. The discreet plain brown box was well padded inside, but I guess I expected the wand to be in some sort of blister pack. I'll just assume it wasn't pre-used! At least it came with a pouch (same as the amethyst). I hear some glass toys do not include them. In the end, I don't mind and it was nice that the pouch was included for when you are storing this with other toys or traveling.
No instructions or manuals were included.
For added stimulation, you can hold a wand type vibrator/massager at the base while inserted and the glass will transmit deep vibrations inside your vagina/anus. You could also put a silicone vibrating cock ring around the shaft for clitoral stimulation when used vaginally.
I enjoy using this on my partner vaginally, while performing oral sex for dual stimulation.
I'm not sure this toy is worth the full asking price, but when it is on sale, it is definitely one to pick up.

Follow-up commentaryI still like it3 months after original review
We don't break this one out often anymore, with so many new toys from EF, but it still has a special place in my heart, since it was the first toy I got at EF and my first glass toy ever. It's a perfect size for anal play and has a nice subtle texture. We just tend to use vibrators more than dildos or glass. It's a find toy for anyone's collection though.
