Hot for Teachers
While not a blockbuster like Pirates or some of the other big Digital Playgrounds movies, this is an enjoyable movie which will appeal to anyone who likes a light dusting of plot coating three hours of enjoyable sex scenes.

Pros
Solid performances, varied action, eight good scenes, three hours.
Cons
No worthwhile extras.
Teachers is a 3 hour movie with eight sex scenes and a serviceable plot. The all-star cast includes a number of Digital Playground's contract performers, such as Jesse Jane, Stoya, and Riley Steele, among others. The movie is spread across two DVDs. The second disc has a few extras, but not much worth mentioning. There's a short "behind the scenes" featurette, but between the choppy editing and the banal questions in the interview segments it is hardly worth watching. Aside from that, there's nothing but a photo gallery and a handful of trailers.
The movie's plot is pretty simple. It involves several students trying to recover a notebook containing details of their sexual encounters. The book changes hands several times, allowing various people to read about the students' activities. It's not a complicated plot, but it does a good job of linking the various scenes together. It's a cheesy storyline, but the actors have fun with it.
I enjoyed all eight scenes, and while some were obviously better than others, there were no scenes which made me want to hit the fast-forward button. Scene length was good, with none dragging on too long, but none being so short as to leave me unsatisfied. There is a good mixture of sexual activities, with a bit of variety between the different scenes, so it never feels repetitive.
I enjoyed all of the performances, and most were very good. Everyone seemed to be getting into it, and most of the time they looked like they were really having fun. It's always nice to be watching performers who are genuinely enjoying the sex, rather than looking like they're bored or would rather be somewhere else.
There is a mix of M/F and M/F/F scenes, plus an orgy scene at the end. I actually liked the orgy scene, which is quite unusual for me. I usually find them boring, as it's often difficult to focus on what's going on. This one was different in that it was well-structured, with the various participants arriving one or two at a time. This allowed the camera to focus on only a few people at a time, lingering on the latest arrivals with only brief shots of the earlier arrivals. I liked this better than the typical schizophrenic editing found in most orgy scenes.
The audio and video quality were both good, although not stellar. There is no music during the sex scenes, so you can hear the performers, which I prefer. The lighting in most of the scenes was unusual, in that they didn't use the blazing studio lights which are so often overused in porn. Most scenes are on the darker side, often with directional light which casts shadows. Some viewers won't like the effect, but I thought it added to the atmosphere and made it feel more realistic. It really helps sell the idea that the story is taking place in a school.

Experience
My girlfriend and I both enjoyed this movie. She and I preferred different scenes, but overall we both enjoyed the whole movie. At three hours, we spread this movie out over a number of nights, as after a scene or two we'd be all over each other and ready to get into our own action instead of watching what was on screen. But the structure of the movie works well for breaking it up into multiple viewing sessions, with its eight medium-length scenes.
Follow-up commentary
9 months after original review
My original discs stopped working, with a weird discoloration on the shiny (non-label) side. The discoloration has been slowly spreading out from the middle of the discs since I got them. Disc 2 stopped working very shortly after I received the movie, and after a few months disc 1 also stopped working. (The DVD drive would grind away for a bit, and then spit out the disc.)
An internet search came up with the result that some porn companies use unlicensed DVD manufacturers to keep costs down. Well, one of the manufacturers was apparently making inferior products which are pretty much guaranteed to develop this problem, and the entire first batch of Teachers discs is affected.
I went to the Digital Playground website and filled out their customer support form, and was very quickly contacted (via email) by a customer service representative who offered to replace the discs. I sent her my address, and two days later I had shiny new copies of both discs in my mailbox. Note that while the form appears to be only for problems with website subscriptions, it works fine for inquiries about their DVDs, too. I just filed my complaint under "technical problems" and they handled it fine.
So if you've had a similar problem with Teachers (or any other Digital Playground movies) be sure to let them know, and they'll send you a new copy in the mail. (Note that the new copy will only be the discs.. so be sure to hang onto your original DVD case.)
There was no hassle and no delay. I didn't have to provide any proof of purchase or anything.
So -1 to Digital Playground for defective discs, but +1 for great customer service.
