When and how did you first learn about sex toys

I have been thinking about it and I have no recollection of not knowing about sex toys.I knew about bondage at an early age and that people handcuff each other doing sex.I may have learned that from talk shows but,I don't remember learning about vibrators or dildos.
How did you learn about them if you remember?

My earliest clear memory of seeing a sex toy was on some late night talk show with Sue Johansen as one of the guest stars. She brought a rabbit vibrator along to show the host, and I remember him looking at the purple, rotating shaft with some confusion. Then the following took place:

Host: "So, what's this supposed to be? It looks like an alien penis from the 50's -"
Sue: "OH!" *arm over forehead* "Oh! ... Fond memories!"

I don't know if that was the first time I heard about sex toys or not, but it couldn't have been too long before that. I was somewhere between 14 and 16, I think.

I don't remember when, but it was back in the young teen years. We have a Spencer's store at our mall and they let anyone go in, don't have the adult section blocked off requiring I.D.'s and of course teenagers were in there acting stupid. My friends and I used to think it was gross/stupid and a "who does that?!" type of outlook about it but of course that has all changed. I laughed when my friend threw a Pure Romance party and here we all are with different opinions on it now, lol.

I first noticed Adam & Eve ads in Penthouse magazine. Big grotesque jelly concoctions - and didn't give it much thought. Then I started seeing them appear in some porn and in the photo layouts. So after being married a few years and trying to spice things up - I decided to order a couple!

A hundred or so toys later - I'm so happy I found a better place and the the mfg community has stepped up to make higher quality products.
