This looks cute. How well does it work?
waterproof..ummm=)
looks short...but satisfyin!!
If it's waterproof, does that mean it's safe for use in the bathtub-or does it depend?
I guess it would depend on how waterproof it is, wouldn't it? But what if you don't know until you try it?

are waterproof vibrators really waterproof enough to use in the pool or bath tub? whats one you would reccomend?

Some are merely splash-proof and not submersible. There is definitely a difference. But it varies from toy to toy - which is why it is always appreciated when a toy claims to be waterproof and the reviewer actually tests it then writes about their findings.

After I had a vibrator advertised as waterproof leak significant amount of water into the battery compartment when used for extended tub play, I started not just dunking them, but leaving them under for a little while. It's a bit paranoid, because rarely have I found a toy that survived dunking but not staying submerged, but I do it anyway.

I leave toys on and submerged for several minutes. So far every toy that claimed it was waterproof was.

I get very irritated when I get a toy that claims to be waterproof but isn't, as I really enjoy shower time with my toys.
It irks me quite a bit as well when I read a review where the reviewer either completely fails to mention whether the toy is actually waterproof as claimed, or says something like "I haven't had the chance to see if this toy is waterproof." I mean: COME ON. It's not that hard to take the toy and sink into a sink full of water. I understand people hesitate because they don't want to ruin their toy, but if I loved a toy that much I just wouldn't get it wet and wouldn't write a review.

I'm not too big on using toys in water so I am less likely to try since a lot of them break.

Honestly, because I don't use my toys in water most of the time, I forget to try them out. I'm trying to remember to test them in the sink, though

I've not really had a lot of problems with them breaking..When we take them to the hot tub, they stay submerged for awhile and yes, sometimes we do find some water in the compartment, but after they dry out, the toys seems to work fine. We just don't take that toy back. We enjoy using toys in the hot tub and are willing to try them out-for the sake of the review! )

As to the title of this discussion:
I do think it's false advertising to call a toy "waterproof" when it is at best splash proof. I think these companies are well aware whether their toys are actually waterproof and are sometimes just using that as an invalid sales point.

you really have to read the reviews on the waterproof toys to make double sure they really are

So far I haven't had any toys break and when I review I do test it if it is really waterproof. I have a three part method:
1) Dunk it see if it there is any signs of water getting inside,
2) use it the shower, again check for signs of water getting in, if it survive that we move on to...
3) chaos's 2-hour waterproof vibrator torture test: 1 hour submerged with the vide off followed by one hour with the vibe on at max strength.
So far all toys have survived although I'm doubtful about the one I just got for review, we'll see about that one.

I test all my waterproof toys by fully submerging so I can let others know in my reviews.

Sadly this has happened to me as well. I didn't even submerge it, I was just in the shower. I was very disappointed to say the least.

Waterproof to me means we can take in the tub and play under water. I know for a fact that some things that say they are waterproof wouldn't stand up to being submerged. It all come down to the quality of the o-ring and where the controls are. When the toy says splash proof that makes me a wonder how much water exposure it will actually withstand.

I'd say about 1/2 of the ones I had that claimed to be waterproof really aren't waterproof and that makes me ill!!

In general, I don't trust "waterproof" toys to be fully submersible unless they're from a high-end company (Lelo or Fun Factory, for example), and preferably rechargeable. Toys that charge magnetically are really the only ones I use in the tub regularly, since there's no openings whatsoever for water to seep in. Most of my other waterproof toys are shower-only.
I've come across a couple of toys that were advertised as waterproof and wound up not even being splashproof. That is supremely annoying!

Same here! I will only use magnetically charging toys in the water, just to be safe. Some of my waterproof toys died in the water previously.

I have luckily only had two toys that claimed to be totally waterproof and then leaked. If it's not waterproof, I don't want it!
