He's short - should I care?

Contributor: sweetpea12 sweetpea12
After a meeting yesterday I got asked out by this really really cute guy. He is smart and funny and really successful. I'm about 5 foot 7 and he's like 5 foot 2. I really like tall guys and I am kind of afraid that i'm going to let his height get to me. Should I not care about his height, or should I keep caring? Help me

I can't really direct you on how to deal with this, as it really depends on how much you value height and what sort of relationship you'd want with him.

I also thought of myself as "only tall guys, please", until I met former-Master who was six inches shorter than I am (I'm 5'6", he's 5'). Once we connected intellectually, and eventually physically, the height difference became a non-issue for me. I valued his mind, kindness, Dom nature, and stability more than if people were going to look at us weird (not to mention he had a hot English accent). So what that I didn't tilt my head up to kiss him - he was still Master.

Just remember ... we're all the same height when horizontal.

I am I guy and it would be weird for me to be shorter....Im 5'11'' and my girl is 5'1'' so I am a giant compared to her. For guys I think its a sign of dominance over our so. If she was taller I would get over it but it would still be weird. No more high heels for her!

No, who cares if people think it's odd that in some situations the guy is shorter. If you are attracted to him and it sounds like you are, give him a chance. You NEVER know who will be your prince charming (or princess in some cases) if you let silly things get in the way.

*shrugs* I can't tell you who to be attracted to but I wouldn't care. I actually prefer short guys though.

I always thought it would bother me, but both of my boyfriends have been shorter than I am, so go figure. I've only been an inch or two taller, so I might feel uncomfortable with a 5" difference, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's not so much a question of who's taller, but more one of being roughly the same height--it's totally psychological, but I feel like we're on more equal footing. That's probably a really weird hangup, though, so I would say go for it! Besides, there's really no harm in going on one or two dates to see if there's a spark--you're not losing anything.
