I vote yes also. Abstinent from sex is abstinence, I don't think masturbation counts. Saying no to all orgasms is totally different in my book.
Is abstinence still considered abstinence if you masturbate?

So I guess I am kind of abstinent already, right? My question is, is it still considered abstinent if you are using sex toys?
Please let me know what you think. Is this a personal preference thing do you think, or something else? less

yes
02/08/2011
I definitely think it's a yes.
02/13/2011
I said no, but I think it really depends on why you are abstinent? Religious or moral?
02/14/2011
yes
02/14/2011
I voted that it is still abstinence...but in the end, it doesn't matter. Do what you feel is right for you.

We should ask Bill Clinton that question.

I think so, but thats just me

Abstinence is from sex. Masturbating isn't the same in my book.
03/04/2011

i'd say yes

If you claim a desire to abstain from sexual intercourse, then yes, it still counts as abstinence. However if you claim to be abstaining from sexual release, then obviously you are no longer abstaining if you masturbate.
03/28/2011
I say yes.
05/10/2011
Yes, abstinence is abstaining from sexual intercourse with a partner.
05/10/2011
of course
05/10/2011
I don't think masturbating has anything to do with abstinence.
06/05/2011
It is to me
06/05/2011
I say yes because there *usually* is no other person involved. Only then is it purely abstinence.
06/06/2011
In my opinion, absolutely yes. Abstinence is usually about saving yourself for one partner, so if you masterbate there is no partner!
06/06/2011
Masturbation I think is fine if your not wanting to be intimate with someone else. Do what you feel is the right thing for you
06/07/2011
Gotta say it really depends on what your personal definition of abstinence is. The word is relative to the person using it honestly. I consider abstinence the lack of having another person so I would have to go with yes.
08/03/2011
I view abstinence as not being sexually active with another person.
08/03/2011
yes
08/03/2011
of course it's abstinence. it is your body and there is nothing wrong or unhealthy about fucking it. abstinence is usually practiced for moral reasons or health reasons. you're good to go, girl.
