Glass toys...playing TOO hard?

Contributor: Simone Kenley Simone Kenley
I just got my first glass dildo by Phallix and I adore it...however, I'm a little concerned about hurting myself - I bang myself pretty hard when I'm masturbating, and while I never worried about it when I was just using jelly vibes, I'm just a little worried about the glass toys.

Assuming that I follow the usual rules (pay attention to my body and sensations, stop if something seriously hurts), am I at any risk of bruising/injuring myself with a glass toy?

I have been using my glass dildo regularly for the last few months. I love it and have not injured myself in any way. Granted, if it's turned the wrong way(it's a g-spot dildo)it doesn't feel as good but, it has not caused me any pain or bruising whatsoever. I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about at all as long as if you feel pain you pay attention to that and do something different. Sometimes pain can be an indication of an infection if your using it vaginally. As far as anal goes, I really haven't used mine for that so, I am not really sure but, I would suspect the same goes for that region too. If you feel pain you should stop.

Hard toys tend to be easier to notice, when you're going more aggressively than your body wants to allow. I thought maybe I was like you at one point (enjoying a harder fuck, versus a slower one), but once i used my first steel toy, I quickly found that a slow, deep screw with a nice hard, steel toy was worth more than any quick, hard fuck with a soft toy. It gave me the same depth of stimulation I didnt' know I was striving for, without all the innard bruising thrusting.

I still get vigorous and excited, sometimes. But even then, my body lets me know loud and clear I'm going too fast, and morning after aches sometimes happen, but not to the degree I was afraid of...

I actually hit my cervix so hard with my glass dildo that I was sore for a few days. Luckily, since I tend to have a LOT of gynecological exams due to having endo and PCOD they checked me out and said I was fine but just be a little more careful next time. If you feel yourself getting too rough, just tone it down. You're always in full control so play it smart and you'll be fine.

I think you're fine. Just like in toy-free sex, sometimes things get rough and bruising happens, but that particular area of your body also heals really fast. If something hurts enough to do damage, you'll know to stop before you actually injure yourself.

Pain is a good measurement of when to stop. If it feels good, keep going. If you feel any discomfort or pain, you will know you're being too rough.

Just be aware that even though they are both dildos, the similarities pretty much end there. Glass and jelly (or other soft materials like elastomer and soft silicone) are so fundamentally different that the way you use them must also be different. Glass is way less forgiving, and far better for focused stimulation. Stick with softer toys for an all-out bangfest.
