So, I'm just curious, what some of our EF members use for birth control, do you (or your partner) find it a PITA, or do you (or both) find it completely worth it, and not that big of an inconvenience?
Birth control: PITA, or necessity/worth it

A little bit of both. And we usually use either a nuva ring or condoms.

We were using non estrogen birth control pills but they cause me to have frequent bacterial overgrowths which we had attributed to me having two partners...but the balance swings back to normal without antibiotic intervention (and still having both guys) if I spend two months off the pill! Since we, as a unit, don't want any more children we are investigating the options.

I'm on a tri-cyclic pill and while it can be annoying to make sure I have it and take it every day, I like that I have to think about it. We also use condoms.

I am on Yaz and I haven't had a problem so far. I like knowing EXACTLY when my period should be, and it saves me from being unconscious in bed 1-2 days every month at the start of my period.

It's my business, the other person doesn't have to worry about it. I take responsibility for my reproduction system; I don't need some guy (ie: politicians) telling me what to do with my own body.
Any rate, I'm taking the Pill mostly so I don't have the period from hell every month. The 'not getting pregnant' part is really just a bonus to that. And the upkeep is simple since I take vitamins - all goes in at the same time.

I take birth control pills, and we have also been using condoms, but recently we've been talking about just relying on the pill. I don't mind taking the pills. I started using them several years before I became sexually active to help with my irregular periods, severe cramps and acne. I do find condoms to be a bit of a hassle, especially because we really don't need to be using them, and I just see it as an extra unnecessary step. My boyfriend says he feels more comfortable having a method he is able to see and control.

I'm on the generic version of Seasonique and get my period only every 12 weeks. We also use condoms for the cleanup factor, so the pill is mostly about having 4 periods a year and only partially for preventing pregnancy.

I'm on the depo shot. There's a lot of concerns on the downsides of it, like the weight gain. I didn't experience it. I don't get a period at all, which was nice because I was in a long distance relationship. I still am on the depo. Every now and again I'll take breaks from it

I have an IUD so it is super easy upkeep. It was a pain to have it put in, but way cheaper over all since it was (luckily) covered by my insurance. For the cost of two doctor co-pays I have Birth control for a few years! plus I don't have to worry about remembering to take a pill.
This is great since now I'm without insurance. If i had to pay out of pocket every month for BC pills I wouldn't be able to afford them.

I tried the Nuvaring, but it made me super-sick. So, out that went, and I'm back to using the Pill, and condoms. I DON'T want to get pregnant. It would be a severe set back. In fact, I don't want anymore kids at all.
