Since glass is non porous, is a glass toy safe for vaginal use if it has been washed with anti-bacterial soap after anal use? Or does it need to be bleached first?

Perceptive forum discussions on Glass dildo:
If you've used glass dildos, did/do you like them?
I'm just not sure if this interests me or not, and it seems many glass dildos are a bit pricey just to experiment. If you've used one, what made you.
Most beautiful glass piece I've ever seen!
Oh man...I am so sad to see that this is discontinued! When I stumbled across the review, I saw it and it looked so beautiful! I am a -huge- fan of.
Anal toys: how does glass compare?
I like anal. However, I am very small and my boyfriend is quite large. I have a couple of butt plugs, one that is too small and then another one...
Glass Vibrators?
I never even knew these existed until last night. Have you ever used one?
Is glass safe to use?
I mean really what are all the consequences?

I guess the answer is - it depends on how anal you are about cleanliness!

If you washed it carefully it's probably just fine PROVIDED the anus in question is either your own or belongs to someone you trust enough to exchange body fluids with and you are pretty sure they're healthy, and you're healthy.
The immune system can deal with small quantities of most bugs, the problems arise when there are bunches of beasties, they're particularly nasty beasties, or a party is immunocompromised. If you wash the toy thoroughly then you're removing most contaminants. Remember stuff gets moved around on washcloths in the shower, and fingers are generally not bleached or boiled, so being clean usually works just fine.
If you're dealing with someone who might have an STI or something else nasty (hep or the like) then bring out the big guns.

It will only be me using the toy, I just didnt want to do anything that might cause some problems.

It really depends on your preference. I'm.... some might say obsessive about hygiene, so I would sterilize it before vaginal use. You have that option with glass, so why not?

I used to worry more, but then I realized I was being a bit too worried and I didn't like my hands smelling like bleach or taking the time to boil.

Depends on how worried you are about cleanliness. in all reality since glass isn't porous at all (unless pitted or scratched) a thorough washing in hot water and good soap will be more than enough.

Yup, that's pretty much my take on it. Glass is also completely nonporous, like Airen Wolf said. In fact, I don't think I've ever actually boiled or bleached one of my glass toys, since my boyfriend and I both use them, and just wash them with very hot water and a good antibacterial soap after every use.

lmao nice pun! But it is clean as long as all the crevasses have been thuroughly cleaned. I use a designated toothbrush or vegetable scrubber to make sure there is no gunk stuck in the hard to reach areas. You may not notice it, but the germs can still be there. Please check out my blog article on cleaning toys that might be very helpful to you!

If the glass (or metal) toy is boiled, or cleaned with Clorox, then it should be literally surgically STERILE. No reason for it NOT to be safe. It is completely NON porous. Antibacterial soap is meant for SKIN and is very mild and usually has lubricants (softners) for skin you DON'T want in your front end or tail end. USE THE BLEACH. We have a pretty glass jar with a TIGHT lid on our bathroom counter for just such "anal toy cleaning bleach" (just be careful not to let it get anywhere and ruin cloths, carpet..etc).

I think it would be fine if you just give it a good wash with anti-bacterial soap. Unless you are gonna use it on someone else I would use a condom.

I'm a little more "anal" about cleanliness than lots of people who replied here, but that's because I'm no stranger to bladder infections. I only have nonporous toys, and I always bleach them before switching from anal to vaginal. It doesn't take any more time (I have a stock jug of 10% bleach under the bathroom sink), and I just rinse the bleach off thoroughly.
Honestly, most hand soaps, antibacterial or not, are not very gentle with my flora, so I personally rinse very thoroughly after using those too. Or if a toy is non-porous and vaginal use only, I'll only rinse it with really hot water instead of soaping it (I'm not in a situation where introduction of STDs is a possibility right now.)
Anyway, yeah, I bleach my toys after anal.

I only use a toy cleaner (Climax Burst) for my anal toys and I use some of them on the wife. We have had no problems whatsoever.

Since glass ins't porous, I think soap and water is sufficient.
