Glass toys are made out of heavy-duty tempered borosilicate glass in most cases (borosilicate is what they make lab glassware out of), and they're mostly made in shapes that are rounded and not likely to break.

Are you safe with glass toys??

The scares me the most is the idea of it breaking mid use. There is no, a little bit in that.

Usually I am very careful with them in general but I don't out them into any particularly stressful positions anyway because I don't want to have to worry about fracture.

I like my glass toys. I was ify at first about it until I tried one and found out I liked it. As long as you take care not to drop it on a surface that will break it or bang it up against another glass toy and chip it then you have nothing to worry about. They are very nice to have.
04/11/2012
Not worried unless I drop them!
04/11/2012
They won't break inside you, you probably have a better chance of winning the lottery.

As ScottA said, most glass toys are made from the same type of glass as Pyrex - which doesn't chip or crack easily. Obviously, you'll want to make sure that you don't heat the toy up in really hot water and put it directly in ice water, then it will crack.

I mostly worry about banging my toys against each other; I wish I had more velvety bags to store them in. I have to make sure I wrap each one before putting them away so I don't potentially chip them.
That's my only worry with glass. I don't generally let others use them on me because of how hard they are and how they could cause bruising, but that's fine - they work well for me solo.

Borosilicate shouldn't even have a problem with this.

The biggest risk of glass is brusing something if you thrust too hard.
Be safe, inspect it if it gets dropped and throw it away if it starts to crack, but other than that it's fine. You'll already have injured yourself before you put enough force on it to crack it during use.

i have glass toys but im not comfortable with using them so i dont i worry about the same stuff
05/08/2012
I have even dropped mine a couple of times and they haven't chipped or cracked. I do always check them over before and after I clean them.

My glass toys do not resemble an actual glass feature and I am completely comfortable with them.

Trust me, unless you're dropping it or you've got diamonds up inside you, glass toys are super safe

Wow! Thanks for all of the info! It all makes me feel better about trying glass.

Agreed! I love all my glass toys. And dropage can be prevented with storing properly, too. I myself refuse jellies. Haha.

You do have to look for cracks or stress fractures if you drop the toy but so long as there aren't any visible signs of cracking they are very safe.
I have well over 20 glass toys of vatious thicknesses and types of glass and none of them have ever given me any problems even after being dropped on my flagstone floor.
To be honest Jelly toys are more dangerous for me than my glass because Jelly products actually cause me to break out in a rash. less
