Christmas is typically spent with family but can it be more enjoyable if you spend it with the family you choose?

I always spend Christmas with family, I don't really have friends to spend it with.

For me, I like it with family. My mom goes all out for Christmas and we have some fun traditions.

Family, in-laws actually. They're good people. My friends are from my past and so far away.

My family doesn't really celebrate Christmas, so I usually spend it with friends.

Family would be my first preference but since I'm in college and working over break that couldn't happen. Christmas with friends is great too.

It's usually a family affair. Sometimes if we know there are close friends with no plans for Christmas, we'll invite them to join us.

I always choose to spend it with my family and I invariably regret it.

If I had any close friends to be a likely excuse, I would spend it with them in a heartbeat, because trying to spend christmas alone is apparently unnacceptable. Honestly, I would also prefer that. You can't choose your family.
