I considered it a while back and yes it can get very time consuming from what I've read. To really make money you need regulars so it's best to set hours, like a regular job. Plus you have to spend a lot of time promoting yourself and if you are on any of the free sites then you have to spend unpaid time in chat.

Yes it can, it really all depends on how much you want to make. If you put more time and effort in, you'll make a lot more. (i.e. promoting and background stuff too)
