Worst. Period. Ever.

I've been on the rag for over 2 weeks now. No cramping, just blood. Uterine lining has come out in chunks (ping pong ball sized) and I'm anemic as hell. Anyone else have Hades in their panties for this long? I'm not asking if it's normal or not because I'm not concerned with it, honestly. Just waiting for it to stop so I can stop ruining my panties. Seriously, I've bought 4 packs of panties this month and now they're all ruined.

This is me being a girl, being allowed to bitch, because I am one.

Do they make vaginal corks?

I understand that you aren't worried, but if this is abnormal or unusual, at the very least you should call up your OBGYN/PCP and have a discussion. It might just be stress, it might be a hormonal imbalance, uterine fibroids, or any other number of things. Plus, they can probably get you to stoppp bleeeeeding.

If this is the usual, then invest in some red/black panties, demote them to PPP's (permanent period panties) and pick up some iron supplements and big juicy steaks!

Plug it up, Carrie!

HAHA! I have talked to my gynocologist and he said I should be fine. I haven't had my period in months, and I recently had surgery for endometriosis and ovarian cysts. There's always some disturbance in my girl plumbing, and my gyno knows more about my pussy and parts than my boyfriend. He has said to take iron supplements and keep an eye on it. I've had an ectopic pregnancy and hemorrhaged pretty severely before, and he told me "Go to the ER and have them page me if you begin hemorrhaging like you did before. Other than that, you're fine. You're cursed, honey, but you're fine."

And oh yes, black panties are my best friends.

But tampons are hurting for the first time in my life. This, I don't understand.

When I started NuvaRing I bled for 30 days straight. It got increasingly heavier and I swore if it lasted more than a month I would talk to my doctor. I'd never seen so much blood come out of me as I did in the last week or so of that month. It was really strange, but not nearly as painful as I figured it would be. I'm sorry you're having a rough time with it, and I think the iron supplements and PPP's are good suggestions. Also, stay hydrated ^_^

I'm on NuvaRing, too. I love it, but it makes my periods insane. And have you noticed an increase in uterine lining coming out? It's a chunky period O_o

You can try a menstrual cup. You can leave them in for about 10 hours at a time and they don't dry you out like tampons. They are made of medical grade silicone. If you have a local whole foods, you should be able to pick up a Diva Cup there.

I could never do those. They freak me the fuck out. Props to girls who can use them because it's incredibly environmentally-friend ly, but I just couldn't do it. My boyfriend was the first one to tell me about the Diva Cup and it creeped him out, too, lol. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I've had that happen! Try switching to pads for a day or two and it should make things easier

After the first month of craziness, my periods were normal or lighter than they used to be (not like "light" just a little lighter and shorter, I still had at least one or two heavy days). I just stopped using NuvaRing a couple months ago and my periods have been heavier since then. Hope it gets better for you.

I was having this problem. My periods were not 2 weeks long, they were for a little over a week and VERY heavy. I was changing my overnight pad almost every hour on the hour. I couldnt sleep at night because I had to set my alarm to wake myself up to change my pad because I would bleed thru my bed sheets. I went to the gyno and she had me have an ultrasound. They found a polyp that I had to have removed. She also gave me a D&C to just give me a "fresh start." Since then, my periods are not as heavy and they only last about 4 to 5 days now instead of 8 or 9 days. I would for sure go to the gyno and let them know what is up.

I just had endometrial ablation performed mid August because I too had extremely heavy, fast-flowing, clotty periods. I hardly ever bled on my pad, it would all just fall out when I went to the bathroom in blobs. They would only last 4 or 5 days, but the first two hurt like heck and NOTHING, not motrin 800mg or tylenol would kill the pain. There's an 80% chance of success with this procedure, either not having a period or having a very very light one. I hope it works..have to wait another month to see.

However, the thing about this procedure is that because it destroys the uterine lining, it is not recommended you get pregnant, so depending on your age and future desires, you may have to consider something else. I'm done having children, so it was a good choice for me. He also tied my tubes and found some endometriosis on my left side.

Good luck with whatever they decide.

EDIT. Oh, you already called your doc. I didn't see the part about the Nuva Ring. I'm in peri-menopause and when mine gets too nasty or lasts too long, I pop a progesterone tab for a day or two. Stops it dead.

Sorry you are in such a state. Sorry about your panties, too. (I ruined a brand new set of sheets this month. I haven't bled through to the sheets in years. UG.)

I'm only 23 so it's a big hell no on the ablation.

Can't afford to go see my gyno, just talk to him on the phone and he has not suggested I come in, so I'm not.

DeliciousSurprise's Carrie reference is so win.

My first period lasted 2 weeks, so I can relate-ish. I remember that nightmarish hell all too well... sigh.

Anyways, the permanent period panties are a great idea. I have my own stash of about 10 (ruined) whites, blacks, and reds. Highly recommended.

I would be so weak, I don't think I could function. A visit to your gyno is certainly in order. All the best!!

I have never been on the rag for that long but I will say that the worst period I have ever had was when my cramps were so painful that I was on the bathroom floor vomiting because of the pain. I have also had uterine lining come out in chunks like you have described. You are not alone.

Aaaaaaand a cyst ruptured today. No mistaking that pain or "orange" blood.

*sigh*

My vagina is rebelling against me.

UGH. Find a woman gyno. She'll better relate and therefore be, well, BETTER.

Anyways, that's fonkay. I'd go to a (different) doctor.

The wimmens? Or doctors in general?

I don't know, but I hate going for that very reason. Sometimes I take a hot shower, drink a hot tea, pray that I don't shrivel up and die from pain, and then call it a day and cry myself to sleep.

Oh, periods! F*K YOU!

Doctors. My insurance changed recently and it's a $300/month premium, not including the percentage copays for doctor visits and whatnot.

EFF IT. I'm taking a klonopin and laying down.

(post by Mrs. Nakana) Two. Months. I was on the rag for TWO MONTHS a couple of years ago. It was so heavy if I moved or shifted positions it would dislodge pea to finger sized chunks - and the blood flow was *constant* (an overnite size pad every 2-3 hrs!). I've had every test under the sun done on me and nobody can tell me why it happened. All I know is that it only slowed down when I was so anemic they had to hospitalize me and give me 2 pints of blood so I wouldn't go into a coma. They shot me up with a concentrated estrogen and that took care of it for the time. I've still had occasional problems with overly long and heavy periods, though my latest doc (female specialist GYN only, no OB) gave me a great piece of advice: ibuprofen if taken constantly during your period will help stem the tide. It's a little tough on your stomach, but if you can handle taking 4 - 200mg pills at once, it can help stop it early. Also, DON'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR DOC!!

I feel your pain as I am going through the same thing and I will be going in for tests and an ultrasound. Have you gotten any answer yet? I'm curious to know what your doc has told you. I was just told by my doc to take ibuprofen 3-4 pills 4x's a day and that will help curve both the bleeding and pain. I'm curious to hear how your situation is going. Maybe it might give me a little help.
