Worse menstrual pain with age?

The older I get, the more crampy I get during my periods. My gyno said everything is fine, and that it happens with age.

Anyone else experience this? And also, what do you feel is the best remedy for easing the pain of cramps?

I sure hope not! I've had really severe cramps ever since I started my period at 11. I feel the pain down my thighs and in my lower back too, and it makes me feel nauseous. I haven't noticed it getting worse over the last 10 years, thank god. My doctor told me to start taking Naproxen (Aleve) 1-2 days before my period starts, to prevent the pain from coming in the first place. They also gave me a list of some suggested supplements. I forget what they all were since I didn't end up getting them all, but I know it included calcium and chasteberry fruit.

I'm also on birth control pills, which helped make my periods lighter and less painful. And I take them continously for 3 months, so that I only have to deal with my period 4 times a year.

The only thing I've found to get rid of my cramps was getting on birth control. Then you kill 2 birds with one stone, no more period (at least not for me) and no cramping! Yeah I guess the whole "not getting pregnant" thing is always an advantage but screw that. I only want my birth control so I can avoid my period/cramps lol.

I just use ibuprofen and warm compress. :/ It's the best I can do... my cramps get so bad I can't walk.

I take a birth control where I only have a period every three months. Never going back. No point in having 1/4 of my fertile life with horrible cramps and bleeding.

I'm not sure about cramps getting worse with age. Generally, child-bearing "helps" lessen the pain. Members of my family noticed that after they gave birth, no more horrible cramps.

That is not true with everyone. Mine have got worse, even with birth control after 2 children. I am at the point now were I am absolutely miserable.

I just stopped my BC, I am hoping that it helps to detox my body of hormones, but it has only been a week since I stopped. I have been on it off and on since I was 12, so I think I need to stop taking it.

I find a warm shower helps, bottle of wine, and some ibuprofen. That is about it. And sleep.
