For those who want to wait for a long long time before having a baby, or more babies; what do you think is the oldest age to have a baby?

I wouldn't risk having a baby over the age of 35. That's when the risk of your child being born with chromosomal abnormalities (Down's Syndrome) starts to increase exponentially.

I don't want children, but yeah, i think 35 is the 'magic number' that you want to have kids by, otherwise you run into a lot of potential problems.

I know LOTS of women that have had children over the age of 35. The risk increases no matter how old you get, but that is when the risk is increased enough to the point where doctors feel the need to test for it. I think the bigger thing to look at is, how old do you want to be when your kids are active? Do you want to be 70 when your kids graduate high school? Do you want to be so old that you have to worry about your kid taking care of you while they are growing up?

I've always heard 35 too, but I like Tessa's point. It really depends on how old you're willing to be when you kids hit certain ages. That could mean younger than 35 would be the cut off or later than 35.

I have heard 35 has well. I am 28 and my clock has been ticking for years!! My fiance and I are getting married next month and I am hoping to have our first by the time I am 30 so that we can have a couple before 35...they will be close in age which isn't my ideal, but I want kids and so does he so we will make it work.
